hahahahah.

no.

On the other hand, Lucky Star OVA sounds like awesome, though I can't exactly imagine what it's gonna be about, considering the actual series wasn't about much either xD

Nobody asked you. Besides, have you even seen my room? The scattered manga acts as a makeshift security system since the door only opens a few inches as a result of the blockage, it's easier to open from the inside of course (it opens into my room).

I'm not an otaku ...
I only watch anime from time to time when I've time. And only bought Anime DVD's to edit with them.

About the Lucky Star OVA... I'll give it a 1 Ep check. Or mabe a 1/2 Ep check.

PS: I wouldn't be proud to be an otaku.... rl is more important.

From a social health standpoint i'd agree. It has nothing to do with how much you like anime - it's about how much you obsess over a given hobby. On the other hand, "taking work and play with equal amounts of intensity and respect" (one of the defining characteristics of being an otaku) is so ill-defined that it could both be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

Of all the things I do too much, being an anime nut is so far down on the list it isn't even in the top 10 :)

Lets see, the thing I do too much that might be #1 might be posting on damn forums :) But I've been getting that under control (should have seen me a few years back).

#2 swearing. I sure wish I didn't, it bothers me, nasty habit to have.

Certainly not a workaholic mentality though. Being too caught up in RL can be as destructive as being too much the escapist.

I'm not your friend .. just so you know.

I'm not talking about people on the forum. I'm talking about my friends in real life. I stick out like a sore thumb since I'm the biggest Otaku in school. And most members of the anime club are pathetic, their knowledge of anime is limited to YTV, the library's selection of manga and dubbed anime. None of them even know about Haruhi, Lucky Star, Clannad, Kanon, Air, Gurren Lagann, Zero no Tsukaima etc. etc.
Well some of them know OF a few of those. Most of em are girls who like yaoi and yuri and really bad K drama-ish shoujo anime. I watch at least twice the amount of anime that all of them (individually, not combined) watch.

Lol, my situation is the exact opposite, my friends don't like yaoi or yuri, they love animes like Lucky Star and Clannad and so on.

Otaku = Obsessed fan.

That is the definition of me. I'm not as bad as those Star Trek freaks (no offense) but I'm still pretty out there.

It's both more than that and less than that at the same time. It's about believing deep down that your passion is just as important as anything else - education, work, eating, hygiene, etc. That's why it has a negative connotation.

Exactly. Anime doesn't come before school, but rather it ties with school at #1 most important thing for me right now.

Sorry 'bout the double post but I have something to add. IF anime came before school and my mom saw it was affecting my grades then I wouldn't be allowed to watch anime as much. So in order to continue with anime I have to do my school work and get good grades.

Be glad you have school to intrude :)

If you had nothing to stop you watching anime all day, would you watch anime all day long? :)

I have an edge, I'm more or less compulsive. If I decided to watch anime all day it would just mean I stopped something else for the day.

Now after 3 or 4 days solid I'd likely need a break to get some exercise. Too much sitting isn't good.

But I'm like hasteroth, several hobbies. my only problem in a day is usually just picking the hobby.

I'm testing for my Shodan black belt in Shotokan Karate on May 31st and June 1st (overnight)! I've been training for 5 years. So I'm quite fit even though I'm a total geek! I rarely get into fights since 1.5 years ago some guy tried to grab me from behind (I think he was in 11th grade) and I took him down in a couple of seconds, he didn't get hospitalized but I scared the crap outta him.

We're getting off topic.

I saw the First 4 episodes of the Lucky Star dub. It wasn't half bad.
