the first episode was surprisingly intruguing and very well paced. I found myself curious about what type of relationship Hiro (who suspiciously looks like a gruffer version Yukito from Air TV Laughing) and his ex-girlfriend Shouko used to have. Karada's problem seems like what some ordinary kids have which is wanting to be older sooner and not be treated as a child....Karada becomes an adult and Shouko becomes a child,....

What kind of older brother doesn't even call the police or something when a little girl is missing for so long? And why was he so mean to her friend? Plus, the haircut makes him look like a creepy stalker, if you ask me.

Heard of the Social Welfare Agency? It'll really suck if they get involved if we assume Hiro is the legal guardian for Karada's well being.

Noticed how clean shaven Hiro was when he and Karada first moved in their own apartment in the flashback? Compare it to now, you can say Hiro went through great depths and sacrifices in order to give Karada the essentials she needs. He probably did it to a point that he doesn't give a damn of what he looks like. And not to mention Karada was crying at the fact that she became a "burden" to Hiro because he let himself go like this.
[/quote]I thought it was in ep2, but maybe in ep3 ... Hiro DOES say that he called the police about it.
And as was mentioned already -- different people will react differently. Shouko takes it surprisingly well ... which I can see because she comes off as a realist. Her attitude is basically -- this is completely impossible, yet it happened, so I have no choice but to deal with it so theres no use in breaking down about it now.
Karada on the otherhand is still only in 5th or 6th grade atm remember, so she is less mentally equipped to deal with something of this magnitude happening.
