Have you guys seen the live-action movie version? I found the ending (especially the second movie) to be FAR more satisfying!
L still died, BUT Light is the one who died first!

There's none of this Near and Mello bullshit, and Misa was at least more tolerable and useful in the end!
Though you can't beat Light's dad who I found out is the guy who hosted Iron Chef!

You guys are thinking of this the wrong way. Are you not happy that Death Note is being recognised? It is very rare when an anime that has aired so recently reaches American broadcast in such a short time. Death Note was perhaps the greatest anime I have ever seen and I am happy that it is going to be shared with such a wide audience, for there is no anime audience that is greater than that which watches Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. Many people will never see an anime unless it is on this channel, for they either don't have the ability to watch it online, don't have the money to buy it, or don't have the patience to watch it in Japanese. Up until not so long ago, I was one such person, and many of my friends still are. I am filled with joy in the fact that the masterpiece that is Death Note will be seen by all of these people in America, who have never been inside Light's mind as he is contemplating something and then executes it with such grace and elegance, who have never been with L as as he overanalyzes every little piece of information, and have never seen the look in Mikami's eyes as he so passionately writes names down in the Note. I know that you hate it when the English dubbing doesn't go the way you like it, but to one who has never seen the original, it sounds very natural. I think you should welcome this change and find out what comes of it with open arms.
Domine Kira! Welcome to America!

(I just hope they don't translate "shinigami" as "soul reaper" again or some crap like that. If they do that, I'll retract everything I've said.)

Yes, but people who watch anime on TV tend to not be rabid fans, so they're less aware of the subtleties. And we just don't like n00bs. Death Note got buckets of good attention on the subs.

Plus the Death Note dub is a crime against nature. I watched the entire trailer by force of will.

Do you think that's bad? Here (where I live) they translated Kira as "the killer" (and it's annoying :x)

You mean they un-translated "Killer" to "Kira"?

there are some dubs out there that are great, some where you gotta get used to a voice or two, and some that are........dead awful, oughta be taken out back and shot, and it would be better to read the manga, no matter if the anime is amazingly accurate.

all we really have to do is find out which catagory deathnote will fall under

I just fear that TV Globo buys it off and brings it to Brazil with the voice of Ash Ketchum as Light.

I can't remember the kid's name, but the same guy has dubbed Ash, Shaoran from CCS, the annoying brat lead kid from BeyBlade, Kuririn in DB/Z and the red-eye emo kid in Naruto.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

*snicker* Sorry... that's just.... amazingly accurate and amusing.
That said, it would be nice if the dub for DN was good - but I'm not holding out much hope after seeing the trailer.
