Newest ep involves Hakuoro going Super Saiyan... and a JIGANTIC... Flashback that makes you wonder, was it the future or the past that's going on? :?

After seeing episode 22, I'm starting to believe the world is more like the one in Scrapped Princess which is....
...the fantasy world of Uterarerumono takes place in the distant future. Which means some sort of an apocolypse must have happened. And I'm guessing the people with the different animal ears must be some of genetic mutation.

that ending was, um, not my cup of tea, enough so that I wouldn't want to buy the series, though checking out the hcg for the game, that's not gonna stop me...

Though from what I can see, Karura was a lot more 'meatier' in the anime [stronger muscles, more voluptous curves] then in the game art, where she's rather skinny...

Finished the whole thing! Man, I'm pretty much a sap for these bittersweet endings, and this is no different. I especially LOVE the epilouge and that new ED song that was played. Interesting stuff about how the world was before.

So the animal people are all bioengineered peeps.

Definetely a solid fantasy series, and I wouldn't mind buying this once ADV releases the DVDs. In fact I found this series to be really linear though they were able to build up quite nicely.

I'm pretty sad to let this go.

Oh yeah, Karura and Touka NEEDS their own spinoff OVA series. That's potential that cannot be wasted! :o

In August, ANN was informed by ADV Films that they were planning on releasing the Utawarerumono under the moniker "Shadow Warrior Chronicles." However ADV has now confirmed with us that Utawarerumono will be released using its original Japanese name, the first volume will be called "Utawarerumono: Mask of a Stranger." Chris Oar of ADV Films said "Originally we wanted to make it as accessible to as many people as possible," adding that they decided to reverse this decision following fan-feedback.
THANKU ADV, U DONE SOMETHING GOOD FOR ONCE! Now i'll definately buy the dvds.

That's being petty.

Man, makes me wonder how some casual fan who hasn't seen this on fansubs is going to react when they see this title on the shelves.

I don't realy see why we should care what the name is, as long as they do a good job on the actuall translation. We had this same issue over Kenshin OVA/Samurai X back in the day :/ True I thought the english name was pretty lame, but didn't stop me from buying the DVDs for a great series.

I am glad they chose to keep the name though, as the name (The one being sung) does have some major significance to the story of the show.

Fans vs. the casual viewer... Uh...

I think if you know business, the casual viewer is far more important since well...

There's more of them...

Seriously, how many million close friends do you know that own like $1000s of dollars worth of anime [you can put me on your list if you wish]

I have this oogly feeling that people will just pass on such an awesome anime since they won't recognize [or give a shit] about it just cause on the name...

I've found some DAMN AWESOME anime simply cause the name chosen stuck out at me and I liked them:

Geobreeders
Boys Be
Louie the Rune Soldier

come to mind. People who buy anime at random [like myself] are drawn to a well designed cover and title. Without either, some nice gems can be lost to time...

I'd bet that this anime won't do as well because the casual viewer [who outnumber all you hardcore people *and me*] won't buy it.

Unless the cover's got some sex kittens on it, THEN the name could be flying Buttmonkeys and I'd buy it! ^_^
