Bleh, if only. I'd seriously consider flying to SF to see this, but I will have just gotten back from Chicago at that point and my employer would probably pitch a fit if I wanted to take off again.

Bandai Entertainment Acquires The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya; E-Store Launches

It seems like I won't have to go to SF to see this in the theaters. Mid-June seems so far away...

The only place where it is having a theater release is in Hawaii. And by the time Bandai releases it on DVD, fansubs would definitely be available.

Guess where I live.

And seeing it in the theaters is a different experience than watching fansubs on my TV or computer at home.

Oh god, I hope to see cosplayers lining up to watching the movie. It's like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and such, but Otaku-er!

Went out, bought the whole series on DVD, then I proclaimed "I can die happy". So far I can safely say it is awesome.

Much as I like the series, and I actually watched all 8 of endless eight, I was doubtful the movie would be as good as I actually found it to be.

Ok I want to make it plain, I am NOT some demented Haruhi fanboy :) but I seriously do think the Disappearance film was one of the best anime movies I have seen in a long time. The thing is, if the viewer has not seen the series, a lot of the film will lose something for the viewer. You need to have at least watched the series to enjoy it fully.

I hope the dvd release is soon in arriving.

December 17 I think? I recently grabbed S2 on DVD, it wasn't as expensive as the first in special edition >> I was also glad to hear that Haruhi-chan and Nyoron Churuya will be forthcoming. Those are insta-buy for me.

Also, I was recently watching the S2 DVD Extras, and there are a couple of segments on the first disk where the director and crew go to the highschool that was used as a model for the show, as well as walking around town. Pretty amazing stuff, I could pick out many of the locations they used in the anime without them telling me :p Like the outside picnic area where Kyon and Itsuki have a convo and drink coffee, and the courtyard where Haruhi throws a handful of grass in Kyon's face but it backfires because of the wind. They also whine about having to climb the hill to get to the school, some of that is just like what Kyon says in the show. Good stuff.

Endless eight was draining after a while. I mean God, Nagato just SAY something! The movie sounds like it should be good since i bought the book its based on.

I'm still not understanding the concept of reviving really old topics. Everytime I try to, they're always locked. I could've sworn this one was too. o0

But anyways, I found the movie online as a theatre rip, but God the quality was too horrible to keep watching. I think I'll wait for the DVD release. -_-'

Thread is still alive since the show is still ongoing? :P I have to say, I'm such a... fan when it comes to certain new stuff that if it is out, I simply HAVE TO SEE IT. So I watched the cam as soon as it was available, and I feel that it more than makes up for Endless Eight.

I also got the American release of Haruhi-chan & Nyoron Churuya in the mail the other day, the dub was quite good. I lol'd a lot :3

Mm, I guess. But I mean when the topics gets locked out of old age: somehow they get unlocked. xD

Anyways, just finished the Haruhi Suzumiya movie.
My gosh, was that film ever amazing. Seriously: bravo, KyoAni. O-O

If I had to pick out anything I wasn't fond of, it was maybe the pacing during the time when he was at the Literature Club trying to figure out how to find some sort of clue from the Yuki he knew. Basically he just sat around the club room for awhile trying to think of something.
While this irked me a bit in terms of holding my interest, I really can't fault it: if anyone was in his situation, his actions were perfectly human. They paced it incredibly accurately.
The animation speaks for itself: above and beyond, as always.
And the soundtrack had me quite captivated, which is odd because the series' OST never really stuck with me. 'Strange that the movie's did, but oh well. xD
I think my favorite part of the movie was near the end where Kyon's inner self was challenging him by asking him if he really liked being a member of the SOS Brigade: I loved the idea of an inner struggle for the guy!

Anyways, 10/10. Fantastic movie. I'll be anticipating the BD of it in the near future. <3

I read the novel before I saw the movie, but it was nice to see certain scenes animated. For example, in the novel, Kyon's inner struggle was simply a conversion, but in the movie, it was more of an interrogation. Also, I love Nagato with expressions <3

Anyway, now I can finally start the Haruhi AMV that I though up months ago.

Yep, I can see that...of course, it more than makes up for it when he does find the message. The emotion he shows while facing the window is amazing. My issue was, once he found the message, and knew there was a deadline, he didn't just spring into action and start looking for clues. He says "so two days from now I guess," where I would have expected him to be "oh shit, one day already wasted!" and spring into action. I guess at that point though he was still having the inner conflict with himself a bit too.
