Well, at least it going to be a lot better than the ones made by the same guys who did those live action porn versions of Haruhi Suzumiya and Fate/stay night!

Episode 7 was DAMN GOOD, and it's definitely setting up to go either ways! Couple keypoints that needs to be emphasized:
- Keiichi, Rena, and Shion were able to avoid going to their paranoid, psychotic state from their respective chapters by being able to talk to someone about it. Supposedly they have dreamed what they "could have done" which in fact "already happened" in their chapters.

- Akasaka's wife was also spared thanks to actually listening to Rika's advice.

- Rika makes a theory that if Tomitake and Takano were able to avoid their deaths, she will be spared. With that in mind she did warn those two about it and later security was beefed up a bit.

- And what did you know! Those mysterious guys in green are watching over Rika!

Why am I getting a nagging feeling that these events that may favor Rika will make her too overconfident to a point she'll lose her guard?
Episode 8, and yes sh*t is starting to hit the fan! :o
- Guess who's back? It's Satoko's abusive, good-for-nothing uncle! Like what happened back in Tatarigoroshi Chapter (episodes 9-13 of Season 1), Satoko refuses to admit to the welfare agency that she's being abused since she considers it as an atonement for making her brother Satoshi disappear.

- This pissed off Rika a lot (just look at her deranged faces which by the way doesn't look corny like last season) since her dependence on Akasaka and those "mysterious" guys in green ended be useless due to various circumstances; Akasaka was at a hot springs resort with his wife, and the guys can't intervene because the police tagged the uncle and Rina Mamiya (remember her from the last chapter in the Answer arc of Season 1?) got killed so any movement from these guys will only bring in more suspicion.

- So it's all up to Keiichi and the gang. But first when Shion heard about this, she was ready to kill the uncle. Interestingly enough, Keiichi is the one who stopped her from doing it. So you can say that the uncle's upcoming murder has been adverted.

- The gang then went for the frontal approach and went to the welfare office directly. This ended up being being a bust since the officials got no clue what's going, and they didn't give them a straight answer. Hope seems lost until Rika told them to keep on pushing harder.

So in a way, most (or should I say all) of the events in the Question arc that lead to the upcoming destruction has been adverted. Well they still have to get Satoko out, but there's still the lingering questions of what caused the disaster, and who killed Rika (or better why does Rika has to be killed).
oshi

I watched up to ep 7 today and
It does indeed seem like Rika's overconfidence is going to be her downfall. But at least she's trying a bunch of new things this time, and this current existence is showing promise...gonna watch 8 tonight and see the shit hit the fan :|
I thought this anime was going to be a light mystery anime with some blood thrown around, but after the first half of episode 1, it already feels heavy. There was a dread and horror at what is happening and perhaps what will happen. This isn't a light story, the elements in here are heavy, the themes humbling, and visuals disturbing.

I like it, I like the characters, i like the setting and atmosphere.

Yeah, it's hot stuff. I've not played the game, but I'd be willing to bet I'd be glued to it pretty hard as fast as some of the arcs progress...especially after the very first arc has you going WTF AGGRO RESET.

So, episode 26 left off with somewhat of a "good end" and it would've been okay, except for the ominous omen with Rika. It could've been left there, but then you realize that there's a season 2 and you think, OH SHIT! what's going to happen now? and then you watch the first episode of season 2 and you realize, fuck! that wasn't a "good end" at all.

Also, having handled large blades the size Rena's blade, I can tell you that striking downwards at that angle with any amount of force is going to break bones and tear skin. Even the blunt side would've cause mass brain damage and hemorrhaging. That was a surreal moment for me. For such a gory arc, I half expected Shion's brains to be scattered all over the floor. I wanted to puke.

It's too bad for you Keiichi, and you Rika. Just when things were beginning to make sense, just when you could start changing things around, the story ends.

Episode 10 is out and subbed. Keiichi keeps showing that he has guts and brains, he even threatened some very powerful people. The village escalation movement is getting bigger and powerful pieces are moving around the board to make things happen for Satoko.

It's too sad though. They're all going to die anyway. This can't be a "good end" arc. We still have 14 more episodes. Something is going to fuck this arc up. They're going to die. Rika is going to die. Rika has to die, if not in two days than shortly afterwards. You can't spread this arc's material over 14 more episodes.

It's too sad. This will be a bad end.

I also believe that this will be a bad end since we still have one main arc left.Based on AniDB:
The anime will consist of the last two solution arcs "Minagoroshi-hen (Massacre Chapter)" and "Matsuribayashi-hen (Festival Accompanying Chapter)".
The Kai series will also consist of an anime exclusive story arc: "Yakusamashi-hen (Another Increase Chapter)".

We're still in the Massacre chapter...

I see. If I was a director looking to put
the best good end at the end of the series. i would put the Matsuribayashi-hen (Festival Accompanying Chapter) as the final arc. the anime only arc would be next after this one.
very interesting, i hope it's not some dubious filler material.
