Episode two.. man what a fun episode.
The group decides to play "zombie tag" at school and all hell(good hell) breaks loose.

Rena uses "Anti-pubescent boy hardening magic"(a series of attractive poses and comments which induce a hard-on) on Keiichi and stops him dead in his tracks, causing Mion to question how she mastered such a technique, among other awkward situations.
awww :/
Ep 2 was a whole lot of fun...It's great to see the characters so laid back again, this time with Shion as part of the crew. A lot of foreshadowing going on...I loved that it was "zombie" tag, and how they were hunting each other. I imagine there will be similar but more serious hunting in the eps to come :)

At this point too, my guess (and it's pretty well established so far in the show) is that each of these arcs is an alternate reality, and that somehow Rika is controlling it. She keeps resetting things in search of an outcome where they all endure what happens yet all live and keep their sanity and don't kill anybody. That's my guess, but with the track record for this show, I could have the carpet pulled right out from under me again :)

Also, aesling pointed out to me that at the end of ep 2, when they're talking about the murders, that Keichi doesn't push the subject, so he somehow remembers the other times and doesn't want things to go the same way. :O Can't wait for ep 3...and like Skylink, been watching this and other things raw :|
Ep1 is subbed and on Youtube. You can find it by searching Higurashi Kai 1.
It's pretty much a history episode about what happened in Hinamizawa during that reset. Apparently, Rena was given the chance to berseker herself towards suicide by Rika.. but she didn't take it. Rika knew it was already too late to save that world and plans to look for "the next one". Episode 2, I'm guessing, is the next Hinamizawa version.

And Rika seems to be a victim of the reset like everyone else, except only she really remembers everything and realizes what's going on. I sorta got that from the end of the last episode in Season 1.

I just find it freaky that even though the world "resets", the older worlds actually keep moving forward in their parallel universes. Who knows how many versions of Hinamizawa were destroyed beyond repair? Especially the long arc that introduced Shion... it's scary to imagine what happened past the reset in that world.
The new opening and ending songs are nice, although it doesn't capture the twisted scary feelings like the first opening. Also, is it just me, or does looking at Takano just get you emotionally angry?

Here's a tidbit that might be proved interesting. Around the last part of the new OP song, remember those echoing vocals that are played? That's actually the vocals from the first OP played backwards. Imagine the symbolism of that!

The second season of Higurashi No Naku began and I missed it? :D :D
Damn, gotta check this (and also review a bit the first season to keep the climax).
Now,what fansubs do you suggest to check guys?
WIND or Shinsen Subs?

Wind has done a good job with the 1st season but Shinsen's releases on other anime have been very good...

I think USO DA would be more effective.

Ahh, episode 3....
There are some fun moments dealing with the baseball game and winning it through extortion (oh that Satoko  ), and Keiichi falling into a hole made by Satoko. But it's primarily focused on Rika and her being melancholy over the fact she can't escape her fate of being killed soon. We did get an indirect appearance of Hanyuu, the girl Rika was talking to during the night.
On another note someone pointed out this!

That's pretty damn sneaky!

I think Rena's actually looking at THAT instead of Keiichi.

Episode 4....let the killings begin!
The usual set up of Takano and Tomitake getting killed is present just like Rika has exactly anticipated. The doctor was also killed as well, and there's a stalker on the loose that's observing Rika and Satoko. Satoko then asked a police investigator to get a patrol guard to protect the, but as the investigator was leaving, he noticed mysterious men breaking into some sort of radio tower. He started to question them but got shot in the end.

Hmmm, I wonder what purpose that radio tower will serve.
Episode 5 ends the anime original chapter, the Yakusamashi-hen. Just to note this chapter was supposed to fill in the minor details that were left out in the first season. And not to mention build up upon Rika's real role in all of this.
Overall, this episode ended with EVERYONE dead. Though a few points to consider:

- Who exactly are those mysterious men, and who sent them?

- Why does it have to be Rika that have to get killed?

- The gas incident did happen yet Satoko was able to escape from it by falling off the rope bridge. Sounds familiar? It should!

- Rena knows something as Satoko dreamt her final actions before getting killed by those same mysterious guys.

- Nurses are evil! :o

Satoko dies from a "heart attack"....yeah right!
Next episode starts the Minagoroshi-hen which is part of the Answer arc which "answers" the Tatarigoroshi-hen (episodes 9-13 of Season 1) which also serves to answer a lot of the other lingering questions presented before.

O: Ep 6!
And Hanyuu makes her first real appearance! \o/ Well, it starts off in some strange midpoint between worlds. It almost looks like she's trying to pick which one to go to. Rika falls into one of them and it's the one where Mion (or Shion.. I lost track.. @_@) wreaked havoc on everybody. However, it seems that Keiichi can bend destiny as he gives the doll to Mion instead of Rena this time. During the other answer arc, she said that "it could've all been avoided if he just gave her the doll."

Crisis has been avoided and Rika is a little less emo. We're getting somewhere!

It seems that Hanyuu is affected by things that happen to Rika. Seeing how Rika can eat a lot of spicy food but Hanyuu appears to be the one going through the torture.
