First R2 DVD comes out tomorrow. :P I'm gonna be so poor trying to purchase all of these. I'd be shocked if the R1 came out later this year, maybe by winter... and I'll probably buy those too! :x

This is an excellent anime. It's story and characters create an emotional and enjoyable combination of hope and friendship.

The story is compelling, not just pleasurable. The combination of present conditions mixed with past myths and allusions to epic struggles, wishes and wants drives a desire for understanding and an interest in the tales of the past. Myself, I've never known the story of Lancer and his relation to the realm of heros. I can only say, I was very surprised when I did find out. European lore sure has lot of legends to offer.

Beyond their appealing appearances, I like how this anime is unfolding the complexity of its characters. Shirou, Rin, Saber, etc. all their stories thus far has provided a lot of information about their motives and motivation.

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of this series.

hmmm... I thought Saber'd be Guineviere. i guess it would be Arthur but the gender change would be a little... weird...

I think it'd be more fitting that Saber be more of one of Arthur's 'hidden knight bodyguards' who inherited his sword...

Of course, there could be a large lesbian paradox to the legend but then there's another theory...

All servants were designed to be opposite genders of their masters... Anyone notice this and wonder why? :\

Also, that could mean that though Saber is a woman, perhaps reincarnating doesn't mean 'exact' revival, but just being reborn with new bodies, same powers?

At any rate, it's fun in any case, so long as it doesn't get all kooky in the end...

Ehh, you may want to hold off at that.
could be spoilers, who knows wrote:At this moment, we don't who are Assassin's, Caster's, or Lancer's respective Masters are or what the Master's genders are.

This anime is created based an hentai-game. It seems simple enough an answer for me.

Episode 13.....*takes a deep breath*

OMG, EVIL, DEMONIC ILYA IS SO FU***ING KAWAII!!!!! Psycho loli, FTW!!! 8-)

*releases breath*

We got some interesting info in this episode especially when Shirou dreamt about Saber's previous life. He also makes a note that there are two swords in it as well. Hmmm.....

Saber's condition is seriously not well due to the lack of mana she has from her previous battle with Rider. Rin suggested to Shirou that he should use his command spell to force Saber to replenish her mana by attacking humans. Shirou was obviously in a dilenma so he went to the playground to think. Then suddenly, the evil loli Ilya appeared and told him that she knows Saber's weak condition. She then used to her magic to knock out Shirou, brought him to her room, and tied him to her chair for some......*ahem*

Ilya said to Shirou for him to become her Servent (for some odd reason), but he refused. She got rather pissed and went off to kill Saber at her weak state. Meanwhile, Saber, Rin, and Archer went through the forest and the episode ended when those three arrived at Ilya's house.

And for anyone who wondered what happened to Shinji, he got killed by Berserker. Ilya definetely showed no mercy with her enemies.

Next episode, Rin and Archer are back in action!!! :D

So we finally get to see Ilya's special ability, hypnotism. It makes sense, especially if you recognized her attire and heritage as Russian. Her hynoptic powers are probably drawn from the influence of Grigori Rasputin.

I would too with a last name of "von Einzbern." Illyasviel is a tough call though, anything with "Illya" would be Russian in my head. Her family must really get around. :P
