I eagerly await when this show will actually become something special. Right now it's pretty bland and I'm not into any of the new characters. I also don't recall the music being that thrilling, and the general mood is too cute/ecchi for me. The first series at least had some somber/moving tunes and an enjoyable group of protagonists.

I expect another great plot twist, given that Mai Hime delivered such quite well.

Something tells me you're not going to be thrilled with the second episode (unless, if I'm right, that episode preview will give the wrong impression).

Since this series an alternate universe, I found the following things to be amusing:

Mashiro is no longer in a wheelchair and is more bratty.
Mikoto is a chubby cat.
Shizuru still has that lesbian aura around her (not that I'm complaining 8-) )

From the looks of the opening, Haruka has POWERS?!!

And that shadow in flames really looks like Mai. Is she going to be an enemy?

And why am I getting Gundam SEED vibes everytime Shizuru attacks and poses?

I wasn't. :P I'll wait it out though til something amazing/fun happens. If nothing ever does, I will concede to being unrightfully bamboozled by Sunrise. :o Not that I don't enjoy gags and service, but I'm kinda burned out on those kind of shows atm.

a few things.

1: Arika seems an awful lot like a previoud protagonist. She is also looking for her mother. Could her mother be Mai?

2: Mashiro is a brat

3: Natsuke seems to actually enjoy Shizuru's advances. She is also the headmaster at the school

4: Shiho and Nao, who never really interacted much in Mai HiME, seem to hate each other for some reason here.

5:
Nagi appears to be a King

6: The HiME in general from Mai HiME seem to be teachers in Otome, and Otome are women with special powers granted by "robes".

I still see some promise in the series even though it lacks the story that made Mai HiME so great. I was hoping for a sequel series, but the AU somehow seems a little more appropriate to me

I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death

Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, unlimited blade works.

I thought her mother was the one who put Arika in the flowing river.

All things considered, that could have been her mother's attendant as well.

I love all the changes. Especially Natsuki and "Amethyst".... [I love that name, why didn't they use it sooner?!]

Though one thing is certain though, as far as substance is concerned, I don't think this show will come close to thick and juicy like Mai-Hime did, but I believe this show is just for the fans who want something more fun and less serious...

I'm all fine for that...

MAI-OTOME 6 IS ALL ABOUT THE TENTACLES BABY!!!

Damn, a LOT of hentai-roots [no pun intended... ] suddenly reared their sexy heads... (gah*) in this ep.

I wonder how offended some of the previous series' fans will be?

I for one have an extensive collection of Mai-Hime sex doujin and this new "Dancing Maiden" idea of wild fights, crazy innuendo, and conniving little brats is a breath of unusual if not 'fresh' air into the new anime realm.

Only Girl's Bravo seems to get this raunchy/dirty without crossing the hentai line, but WOW does ep 6 come close...

Not exactly, but definitely a LOT of tentacle-ish scenes. And watching Nina squirm and yelp when she gets felt up has an unusual arousing effect... None of them seem as 'mature' as the original Mai-Hime set [with the exception of the headmaster and Amethyst who will always be WOMAN in my eyes ^_^]

NO, I refuse to become Mr. Oni! GAH*

*looks at Shana...

Hmm... if i recall correctly, Mai Otome doesnt even take place on Earth, but on a planet similar to it. Nina also points out to this fact when researching the Fish thing that Rap.....ahem, attacked her in the pool. So im guessing this is an alternate reality, possibly what could've happened if the HIME's DIDN'T win against Lord Obsidian.

That's a very interesting theory. Obsidian's got it good... ^_^

The 'rules' behind being Otome might spawn a large breed of Yuri scenes from this series though...

Whoa boy...

That 'twist twist twist' device that was used in ep 6 can get one thinking...
