Yeah Elfen lied does have a lot of subtleties within it and every thing seems to happen for a reason and ties into each other

He noticed before me that when Lucy changes to Nyu she becomes shorter, and when Nyu becomes Lucy she becomes taller. Well, when they hug each other, not only does Lucy make the hand symbol but she also becomes shorter! It's as though she and Nyu have merged and are no longer distinguishable
. I dunno, maybe this helps explain the ending.

Umm... she's standing on a step lower than Kohta in the last episode. In the episode where Lucy speaks to Kohta for the first time since the train(after the rain storm with Yuka) she's taller because she's standing one step aboove Kohta. You can't tell if she grew or shrunk because she changes back while kneeling on the ground.

Sorry if I'm a little late...

I dunno I've heard the manga's storyline goes crazy after the anime ends.

manga = demented

The drawing was awful, the plot was weak and littered with unnecessary actions and events, and the ending was more just *blarf*

the anime however, one of my favourites. It was ended succinctly and well, only part that was a little bit unbelievable was:

last disc spoiler wrote:Kohta forgave Lucy a bit too easily for murdering his family. In the manga he was still angry with her, but considering the length of Elfen Lied they couldn't drag out Kohta's forgiveness, so i guess in the end it was done as best it could be

The manga is bloody, unrelenting, and very raw. Each page if not each panel is designed to force you to feel something, be it horror, rage, pity, etc. It's art and it goes about the business without stopping, although sometimes it's unsuccessful.

I agree that more art detail should have been included. It would've made the manga more compelling, if not only for the aesthetics appeal.

I finished watching Elfen Lied and well, it feels the same as the time I finished watching the NGE movie conclusion. The emotions are all running high, but behind it, everything is so sad. It's depressing.

While watching the ep13, I had to keep telling myself that I'm being emotionally manipulated, but it's hard to not feel anything or for that fact, to control them.

I wanted a good story and I got a good story. Thank you Lynn Okamoto and Mamoru Kanbe.

BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED I AM THE-UBER-ANIME-OF-THE-YEAR, APPEALING TO AS MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE ON ACCOUNT OF BEING COMPILED FROM DIFFERENT LIKABLE FEATURES OF AS MANY-GENRES-AS-POSSIBLE!

Yeah. That's pretty much what EL is for me. A cheaply stitched Frankenstein monster, whose sole purpose is to be liked by anime fans from all around the spectre realizing massive profits for it's makers, using cheap tactics like that.

With all that said I liked Elfen Lied, so go figure

Oh, xexyzl if you still need the MP3 you can get it off [Site name removed] in their anime music downloads.

Yay, my preorder for the new box set finally arrived. Such a good price for the whole series too. Suggested retail is $49.99 but a lot of places are selling it for around $30.

Hmmm..did Eflen Lied really affect you guys that much?

I guess it just wasnt my type of anime then.

I mean first off, gore, decapitaitons, and disembowelments dont really excite me. Its not that i cant stand it, its just because its there, it dosent make it good.Im thinking take away those aspects, and you have an average storyline, and average characters.

I admit, I like to eat something while im watching new anime. For those who havent seen it, I DONT recommend eating SPAGHETTI during the first few eps, especially the first. :? Maybe that skewed my perception of the anime a little.

Or maybe its becuase i judge how much i enjoy an anime by how much times i see it. With Elfen Lied its anime i dont see myself watching over and over again. With anime ranked so high up on anime lists unfortunately I fail to see why its up there, unless if the level of gore, blood etc. is major determining factor. My opinion my change in the future, but at the moment thats just how i see it.

awe if you dont like gore you musn't like alot of things in the action genre , you can't just pretend to remove the gore/action and say its just a mediocre story. The action scenes are important to the story. If you watched terminator and didn't see the T100 actually kill anything how could you take the concept of a killer robot from the future seriously.

Gore doesn't matter in today's society except when used in conjunction with a well written script and portrayed realistically, i.e. actor-movies. The gore in EL is a tad overdone, but that's usually not the part that affects people's emotions, unless they're an anime newbie. Most of us have seen it done before.

The gore was overdone at times, but it wasn't anything special to me...though I used it to freak out my roommates a few times. Also, eating is a bad idea while watching Elfen Lied...the episodes usually remind me of a butcher cutting ham.

I personally thought the story was very good and had some good characters. The military nut was probably the only character that I felt had no depth.

However, I suppose it is possible for the gore to cause people to be distracted from the storytelling.

Personally, I don't think it was overdone. Sure the first thing you see is a twitching arm lying in a pool of blood, but it is a story about death and grief and what better way to show it is with death an grief. Now if there was this crap in every episode like shown in the first, then yeah, it would. But I feel there is an even mix of drama and violence. But that is just my opinion. I really liked it and the story it told. Very heartwrenching in my eye, but I'm an emotional guy.

And I love eating a hearty hot roast beef sandwich while watching EL. :P
