I'll certainly give it a shot at some point, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up. Oh, by the way Oni, Lacus was okay, but Cagalli was a lot better in my book.

I was immensly(sp?) happy with Gundam Seed. But I am still enmeshed in Gundam Wing's spell and consider it the best of all Gundam series.

Was Seed/Seed Destiny enjoyable? Yes.
Was the plot and potential ruined by bad writing? Yes

Was just browsing through this thread, so I don't remember who said it, but the series did indeed have the potential to be a whole lot better.

Mecha are much harder to draw and animate than normal people, so I can see the reason why so many of the scenes were re-used in fights. But did there really have to be that many launch scenes in every single episode? Did we really have to watch the damn Impulse Gundam assemble itself every single time? (Seed Destiny)

Fukada, the director, really ruined the potential of these two series. I liked the whole Natural/Coordinator conflict much more than the original Normal/New-Type conflict in the UC timeline.

SPOILER WARNING:

My Pros:

-Awesome mecha. While a lot of the ideas may have been taken from other Gundam series, they were combined to make cool mobile suits. (my favorite was the Saviour. Freedom comes in second)

-Top notch animation. While the computer graphics looked kinda cheezy at first, I got used to them. Could also be because they got better at it as the series went on.

-Music. Best of any Gundam series.

-Initial Plot. It introduced a lot of interesting ideas. Naturals/Coordinators, that space whale thing, N-Jammers, (as opposed to the confusing Minovsky particle in the original series), Kira's background, the Alliance Extended, and several other little things.

My Cons:

-Ending Story. Fukada wasted it. Whatever happened to the whole thing with the space whale? I want that resolved, or atleast more info given about it. Kira/Archange/Orbl and his/their ideals. What a bunch of carebears that get in the way and make no sense. People with those types of ideals are not supposed to win. Also, not to mention the craptastic ending to Seed Destiny. I've seen Final Plus, but it's still subpar.

-The X20a Strike Freedom. Waaaay too powerful. Dual combine-able beam rifles, rail guns, stomach mega particle cannon, DRAGOONs, beam shields, and super speed and manueverability? Way too unrealistic, especially when you compare it to the updates Athrun got in his Justice, which is almost nothing. Kira is practically invincible with that.

-Shinn. What a crappy protagonist. He became bearable once he and Athrun teamed up, but after they split, he was so stupid again. An insubordinate, naive jackass doesn't deserve such a fine mobile suit as the Destiny. And did you ever notice that the Impulse can be repaired no matter how bad the damage to it is, yet the Saviour couldn't be repaired? Shinn went through 2 chest fliers, 2 Force Silhouettes, and the Sword Silhouette just to kill the Freedom. Why couldn't the mechanics have used the spare parts from all those extra peices to repair the Saviour? Fukada, you're very inconsistent.

-Heine (his fate). He had so much potential, not to mention a cool mobile suit. A truly strong character, unlike Shinn. But Fukada had to kill him off.

-Kira. Go away and cry in a hole somewhere. Cagalli failed to do her job, don't make the situation worse. Because of you Heine died and the Saviour was trashed.

Have I thought way too much about this? Maybe, but that's what happens when you make an AMV on a series and have to watch it through like 3 times looking for scenes. :P

Nah, that's what Athrun used it for. 8-)

It had two huge guns, the beam rifle, and 2 beam sabers. Not to mention wings and speed. Was sorta like a mini Freedom, if you think about it. Atleast, that's my take on it.

Gundam Seed or Gundam Wing.......i can't really decide, except for the fact that both animes had their pros and cons... I mean, Gundam Wing, the action was good and the sense of fighting for Justice and Freedom was veryapparent. As well as the fact that out of so many people in the Earthsphere, there were only five teenagers, who were actually fighting for that dream. However, the story between the characters were a little fuzzy. Like the fact that Heero and Duo might be into each other, personally, I think Heero was sort of interested in Relena.....except a lot of people hate her for some reason. And Duo seems pretty happy with Hilde around...so I don't quite understand why it would look like Heero and Duo were a couple off screen (don't get me wrong....i think that fanfics featuring them as a pairing are fine, but sometimes when referred back to the anime, i get a little defensive on who they're really with)

As for Gundam Seed, is has a really good plot, and the action's good.. Except for the fact that Kira goes around with a whole bunch of other girls before he ends up with Lacus. Sort of gives me the impression that he sleeps around. First it was Flay, then it's Cagalli(before he knew she was his sister) and then he falls for his best friend's fiancee..........it's just really confusing.

But all in all, i find that Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing are both good......in their own individual way.......and yeah, i too am still caught in the spell set by Gundam Wing....but Gundam Seed is slowly breaking through the barrier^_^
Beware the Princess of the UnderWorld, mwahahahahahaha....*coughs*. ^_^;

i dunno what Wing does that has me so enmeshed except that possibly it was my first true anime i watched inscessently (in other words obsessively). Seed was good but i just couldnt take that Kira had a thing for his sister! *shivers* thats screwed up, badly!

Plus as was stated earlier Kira got all this power and Athrun got nothing in terms of upgrades. What the hell! Athrun actually was the most stableminded of the characters on Seed. Also another question, did Lacus EVER seem the type to bring about a rebellion in early episodes? To me i thought it was kinda thrown in. But alas i never saw the complete end ;_; i think im afraid to watch endings, i get kinda choked up ya know? Well later

Well, I liked Gundam Seed, bought all the DVDs in fact, and I'll be waiting for the first Destiny dvd to be released in March in the US. In my humble opinion, the ending to Gundam Seed Destiny was squashed in. If there were a few more episodes upon which to draw it out and there weren't all those episodes where they recapped what happened, it would've finished much more cleanly. Gundam Seed was pretty kool, Destiny had potential, but the ending left a sour taste in my mouth, but the OVA that premiered on Christmas was a much better ending to the series, however, several of my friends and I are still arguing over what happened between Seed and Destiny about a certain "someone".

Rumor has it that there's going to be a sequel to Destiny called Eternity, but I can't be too sure on that. Heard it on other forums on other sites that it was in a Japanese magazine, Moonphase or something with a similar name. I hope this new series would finish up everything to the story cause the writers left us hanging at the end of Destiny.

As it stands, the Eternity story is currently all in the realm of 'Unproven'...so, for now, best to just classify it as another DBAF.

On the other side of the coin, SEED DESTINY compilations will be coming soon (...hey, they might actually get it right this time...probably not, but one can hope) and there's a new 6-part web-cast series in the works entitled Stargazer (different production staff...as evidenced by the fact we finally get a Natural protagonist. Here's hoping a new director is just the thing this universe needs.)

SEED was good, but SEED Destiny is a perfect example of how NOT to do a gundam series.

Curse those recaps, flashbacks, and recyced animation. >_<

I can't believe the 3rd gundam seed series will be out. Do they have to put more shame than it already is?

Well, considering right now the only 3rd series they've confirmed is a sidestory with a different production staff, I wouldn't despair just yet (so long as they can keep the Clyne Faction's part minimal to nonexistent, there will be hope.)
