good start to the final series. Did anyone feel the need to watch what happened last in the anime years ago when watching ep1 of Final Act? =P

i read the manga several months ago so i'm pretty familiar with the backstory but if you havn't touched the series in a few years then you'll probably want to get a little refresher by checking the last several eps of the old series. I thought it was interesting that there was absolutely no flashbacks/background telling in the first ep, it takes place directly where the old series left off, and if it sticks to the manga properly then i'll have no complaints, there are some pretty cool scenes coming up.

If you don't touch up a bit on the manga or previous anime, it will be a bit confusing to get into. For me, personally, I understand what's going on.
I really liked the new first ep, and I can't waaaait~ for the next one.

2nd ep was nicely done. With all of the rush in events that happen in this one, though, it seems like the animation team is really pushing to get to the end of the series quickly. Pluses for getting rid of useless filler, but minuses for trying to rush this story along like this. :|

Also:

Spoiler :
Kagura's death was very well done. It's sad to see her go though -- she's a favorite character of mine. (and no, I haven't read the manga, so all of this is surprising to me.)

Hmm... surprised that there's little discussion about The Final Act, so I'll start off with a few more:

- Ep 4 "Dragon-Scaled Tetsusaiga" & Ep 5 "The Great Holy Demon Spirit’s Test": It's nice to see both Sesshomaru and InuYasha gaining more knowledge of their inherited weaponry.

Spoiler :
Totosai's comment about there being "one more form" of Tetsusaiga is probably a foreshadowing of the results based on what's been happening starting with the 6th episode. Seems they really are pushing to get this one done.

- Ep 7 "Mausoleum of Mount Azusa": This one was actually quite good. They really haven't dealt with the love triangle on this level before, so it's nice that they finally got around to it.

Any other current impressions about The Last Act?

Episode 8 was a pretty nice action bit with the main group, with Episode 9 shifting gears to Sesshomaru.

Spoiler :
Kikyo's death scene was, like Kagura's, pretty well done. It's appropriately sad that two mainstays of the series have now parted, with Koga's departure in Ep 9. (Wow, seems that they have it in for the "K" name crowd, doesn't it?)

Speaking of death scenes, the only downside has been Rin's resurrection. Sesshomaru's mother goes on and on about how Rin can never come back, and then brings her back? That part made no sense, especially considering the fact that we've already had the purposeful deaths of two major characters.

Even though I had some reservations about how Ep 9 resolved, I do like the way this is unfolding. I can't wait to see Ep 10 now. :)

ep8 was different to how i remember that manga chapter
Spoiler :
If I recall (been years) in the manga she had to make a choice whether to finish off Naraku or save Kohaku and make it so he can live without the shard, and she chose the latter

wow so far final act is the comnplete oposite of the first series. Instead of hardly getting anything accomplished, they completely rushing through closing up all the plot developments. I'm still enjoying it so far, but I think it wouldve been better had they slowed it down to about half the pace they are currently going at.

Pefect ending. I kinda wish the final fight with Naraku would have been more epic, but I am more than satisfied with the way things turned out.

I'm so happy they stuck so close to the manga! The ending few minutes were my favorite. I remember Kagome narrating all of that stuff about Sesshoumaru too, so that was cool (my favorite part.)
Spoiler :
Although I don't remember that kiss.... fanservice :ying:

What a great run. They did huge justice to Inuyasha (manga).

Hmm. Now that it's all out, I might just watch it all. The story just moves too fast sometimes, seems like they're rushing it. Though I suppose the slowness was the fault of the last series.... meh.
