My best guess is that something big happens that whipes out all the demons.... and kagome gets very sad while InuYasha is fading away in human form and Kagome is forced to go back to the present era.\

OR,just like in my fanfic:

Demons are still roaming around but are secretly disguised as humans(i.e. Sesshomaru)and it takes special training to notice them.Refer back to episode 12.That should actually scream at you that they are still there cause the soulpiper was a demon.Any of you who have seen the episode should know what I'm talking about,they saw it in the fuedal era and the present.and as Jaken said himself in episode 152-Together with Sesshomaru Forever:"....100 years is nothing to a demon,but humans grow old and die....."
I never thought that there would be the day...when this this sig would be upgraded.

The prevelence of demons in the fuedal age is (apparently) due to all the violence among the humans.

So why not in the modern age? No idea. There was the No Mask incident, and the soul piper, but other than that not much.

It could be that sealing spells got more powerful at some point and most of the demons were banished. Perhaps demon slayers like Sango killed so many they died out.

Or maybe Takahashi-san didn't put that much thought into that particular aspect of the story. *shrug*

I think that they died down around when some-one invented the hand gun

-ahhhh a monster...*blam,blam,blam* servs U rite ya' damn demon
Everything came from nothing, therefore everything is nothing.

There's nothing to worry about.

Ha-ha. ^_^;> Well, I guess if atomic boomerangs work shotguns should too.

Though the idea of demons still roaming around disguised as humans is an interesting idea. :)

129 episodes are scheduled to air in North America, currently. Cartoon Network has only aired up to Episode 125 at present.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

btw, I think I found a continuity error in Episode 125 ("The Darkness in Kagome's Heart").

In Affections Touching Across Time, when one of Menomaru's servants try to control Kagome using a power item, Kagome's pure spiritual power was able to reject it. It took a Shikon Shard along with the item to break through her spiritual power. (Note that she has about as much spiritual power as Kikyo, being her reincarnation.)

Now, when Naraku's child incarnation touches her, he's at first confused by not finding the darkness within. Soon, though, he senses her jelaousy for InuYasha's feelings toward Kikyo and is quickly possessed.

The problem here is, it took the power of a jewel shard to possess her before -- and now a newly-formed incarnation just happens to have enough power on its own to break her spiritual barrier, the same one that worried Naraku so much that he killed Kikyo because of it?

(This is presuming he doesn't have a jewel shard inside of him -- correct me if I'm wrong.)

Well, even though this incarnation is newly formed, it seems to be rather powerful. It's possible that moth demon from Affections Touching Across Time was less powerful, maybe even a bit weak. Who knows? Inuyasha and the others didn't have much of a chance to fight him until after he started absorbing his father's powers.

Also, Kagome was rather distraught and therefor vulnerable. Kikyo's death and its affect on Inuyasha were both fresh in her mind. Plus the knowledge that Inuyasha was searching for someone who no longer existed while she was in danger.

That, and remember this is one of the movies and shouldn't necessarily be taken as canon. :D

That's what's scheduled, anyway. They might get the rights to more episodes later on. (It took them forever to get the rest of the Chapter Black arc of YuYu Hakusho, which is currently airing.)

How many episodes are there, anyway?

Sounds great to me! I'm not entirely sure, but I think the 4th movie is supposed to be shown after the last episode. At least, that's what they did in Japan.

Btw, did any of you know Rumiko Takashi is still writing Inuyasha? :shock:

Of course, you may have already discussed this, but I've only read this last page of replies. ^_^U

takahashi-san is very prolific. I wonder how she plans to resolve the numerous problems. First but not least being how on earth are Kagome and Inuyasha going to get together after all this? I mean, will Kagome move to the Feudal Era? Will Inuyasha stay in Kagome's time? Or will they keep the jewel around and continue bopping back and forth?

:? :shock: What a dilema.

If we were to take all of the possibilities into account, here is what we would find:

- InuYasha uses the complete Sacred Jewel to make himself all-human and lives in Kagome's time (or the Feudal Era with Kagome) from thereafter (pretty much the "happy ending");
- InuYasha uses the complete Sacred Jewel to make himself all-demon, as he intended to before meeting Kikyo. This would mean that he and Kagome never get together, and she either lives in the Feudal Era or the Modern Era henceforth;
- If the Sacred Jewel really is a "wishing" stone, InuYasha wishes all demonhood away. Every demon becomes their totem animal, while half-demons most likely remain human. InuYasha becomes human and lives with Kagome forevermore (another "happy ending" that also ties up the "what happened to the demons" question);
- InuYasha stays a half-demon and both Kagome and he move to the present with the Sacred Jewel;
- Kagome dies, and InuYasha becomes lost in thought to the end of his days;
- InuYasha dies, and Kagome becomes lost in thought to the end of her days;
- If demons still exist in the present, Kagome meets an older InuYasha ... who could be just about the same age as now (I mean, just how old is InuYasha, really? I don't believe that was ever brought up).

For the two main characters, above are pretty much the only ways the entire story could really be resolved.

All good possibilities. I'd rather both stay alive, though.

I looked it up on Wikipedia and, if we can take the (third?) movie as canon, Inuyasha is 150 years old, 200 if you count the fifty years he spent stuck to a tree. Other than that there really isn't that much information.
