The creators this time around have no sense of spectacle. They seem to want to put more action more ridiculously and more quickly than before. Before, the animators would produce less action but make it look much more spectacular, with amazing music accampanying. That's another thing I miss from the original series: the musical score. I believe last time they had an imported Russian orchestra. Their powerful music amplified the heat of battle, and drew you further into the heatpounding climactic moments. In the original show, the moment Ed had his arm destroyed was one of the most powerful WOAH moments I had ever seen. His arm broke into a thousand pieces in slow motion, and then we got a shot shot looking across at Edward from the point where his fingers used to be, followed by a zoom into his face that was a mixture of WHATTHECRAP and OHSHIT as he stared at his mess scrap floating in his arm's place. All accompanied by heavy orchestra. All that happened this time around as if it were nothing. His arm broke apart in a zoomed out shot, followed with a zoom in on Ed's OHSHIT face that lasted about a second. No spectacle. The show's musical score this time around is lame, its quiet and, put simply, its just background music. It adds nothing to the show.
