Mmmm....

No.

That's the English version's name.

Here's the official Japanese site:

http://pierrot.jp/title/yuyu/index.html

If my reading of the furigana here is correct (and there's a 100% chance it is), the title is indeed pronounced as Yuu Yuu Hakusho

yep, dub = Yu Yu Hakusho, original Jap ver = Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

And Dragonrose, to answer your other question, YYH means "White Book on Ghosts" or somethin'. I think the white book refers to some type of record or files, and the ghost part is self-explanatory.

You guys are arguing about how it's pronounced? *shakes head*

My policy is, if you understand what I'm talking about, leave it alone. I don't like seeing a bunch of this pissy "it's spelled like this" crap, so please, guys.... leave it alone.

On a more positive note. YYH is a great show. I remember when it first came on during the days of the badass old school Adult Swim. Every week I waited to see the next episode. I was hooked back then, but then they stopped showing it and I slowly lost interest as they butchered it and put it on Toonami. I would love to see the old Adult Swim come back with all the old animes and a few of the newer ones such as Wolf's Rain.

Yep, just like they add a 'u' to make the long 'o' sound - sometimes. In Japanese/english romanji dictionaries, the "ou" and "long O" are interchangable as long as you pronounce it right. Same thing with the double 'u's to make a 'long u' sound.

Yusuke versus Yuusuke. Pronounce it right, and it doesn't matter how many u's you use. It's not like they typically use romanji in the anime, anyway. They use kanji for the names. ;p

Well, in English, it really doesn't make much difference. In fact, an English speaker's "Yu Yu" probably would sound a more like the Japanese "Yuu Yuu". Any more stretching the vowel, and you end up with "You You Hawkashoe", which is um... Phonologically, Japanese and English are really rather different.

But keep in mind that whereas in English "Yu" or "Yuu" doesn't make a whole lot of difference, this does make a very big difference in Japanese.

So in English, yep, I have no qualms with the way most people pronounciation of "Yu Yu". It's the "Hakusho" that usually gets everyone messed up anyway

You're a literalist, no offense taken. ^.~

That picture is my sig. A sig often describes the person using it. And my sig links to my website. The text on my sig doesn't refer to my avatar picture (which does feature Kurama, not Hiei), it refers to me, my site, and the joke about which it was made - my Hiei obsession.

This must be the first time someone has taken a sig so literally. It's cute. But no, you're right, Kurama is not Hiei outside of bootlegs.

/the joke, in the bootlegs the subtitlers mixed Kurama and Hiei's names - they switched them around, so you're right, they did change Hiei's name in the anime, only it was the Chinese subtitled anime

I believe Kuwabara was translated as "Washin" too - and that's one more reason why I need to find a few decent episode summaries for the Makai Tournament saga.

...of course, it's not like I own those bootlegs or anything =P

Out of ation anime, Inuyasha first, then Yu Yu Hakusho. :? ???

ehh...thats prolly cuz Inuyasha is twice as long as YYH (112)...all in all i think YYH definately is more action pack and concentrated...means doesnt have that much scenes such as romance and such unlike Inuyasha... :)
later...
