Welp, we didn't have an Ippo thread. Anyway, this is for dicussion of the whole Ippo franchise, since it's a continuous plot.AnimeNfo wrote:Makunouchi Ippo is an ordinary high school student in Japan. Since he spends most of his time away from school helping his mother run the family business, he doesn't get to enjoy his younger years like most teenagers. Always a target for bullying at school (the family fishing business grants him a distinct odor), Ippo's life is one of hardship.
One of these after-school bullying sessions turns Ippo's life around for the better, as he is saved by a boxer named Takamura. He decides to follow in Takamura's footsteps and train to become a boxer, giving his life direction and purpose. Ippo's path to perfecting his pugilistic prowess is just beginning ...

Re: Hajime no Ippo
I was always wondering why we didn't have an Ippo thread, tried to find it during the last series.
Personally I think this season isn't going to be as good as the last one. the Takamura vs Hawk fight last season was amazingly well done and there isn't really another one that matches it for a while. It will be cool to see Ippo vrs the Demon Fight, although at this point I think the Reaper vrs Demon Fight would be so much cooler but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be in this season.
If you havn't seen this series yet I strongly recommend starting from the beginning of the first season, the anime is very well done and does the manga justice

yep, they skipped the part where the fisherman guy was hitting on ippo's mom, that was the funniest part of that short arc. the fight also felt much shorter, probably due to the fact that fights in the manga last LOTS of chapters.

New japan TV laws and things like that. That's why main series are now
26 episodes long with new seasons coming depending of the TV rating they got.
There's exceptions like Hunter X Hunter, but most of the main series of today
are like that. One Piece, naruto, etc are running since a long long time, so
they doesn't count either.
