Agreed, fantastic ep. One of the top shows this season for sure.

First two eps were really great,last two eps really throwed me back.This should not evolve into some harem.

Nah, I don't think it's really heading the harem way, but it definitely did turn out to be more of a chill series than something that's intense and plot-driven. More just world-building really. They make Gargantia look like a fairly cool place to live. I like the relatively peaceful last couple of eps, though they haven't done much for either plot or character development.
I bet you anything that by ep 8 or 9 they'll start getting back into some sort of heavier stuff. They can't leave the actual plot unresolved, so we'll see how it goes. I'm still very much enjoying this.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Re: Suisei no Gargantia
It's obvious they're trying to depict a world which Ledo eventually grows attached to, as the drama's likely going to be an internal conflict for Ledo about whether staying on the Gargantia/helping them out or going back to space/fight against them or something along those lines. You can't just go back to the space and drama without any sort of buildup for the main character, otherwise his conflict wouldn't make sense to begin with. I'm not convinced that fanservice is exactly what cuts it for the job, but it's better than just skipping things altogether and say "yeah I've known you for a couple days tops but I'd rather help you out and go against my duty."
Also, there is no harem, let's not mistake harem and fanservice, there's just some romance tops (it's obvious that if anything happens, Amy's the only one as her friends really aren't meant to build a harem but are there just for the fanservice).

Oh snap, a wild Hideauze appears! Hopefully we'll get some backstory on those things in the next few eps.
Loving the scenes with Ledo and Amy too. They're just the cutest. ;___;
