ANN wrote:The story revolves around a poor high school student named Satou You. Satou goes to the supermarket one day and discovers a bento (boxed meal) on sale at half price. Just as he reaches to grab it, he ends up on the floor unconscious. Satou has just entered the fierce, no-holds-barred supermarket survival battle for half-price bento.

Why is nobody watching this? Ben-To may not be a very ambitious title, but it sure is amusing.

When I saw the summary for this, it gave me the impression that this will be one of those really weird but funny comedy shows. Since somebody recommended this to me a few days ago I'll be checking out the first episode tomorrow and seeing how it goes from there. ;)

Also the VA for the wizard is one of my favourites. <3 :awesome:

Since you two liked it I decided to check it out while rendering this one beta and it turned out to be pretty great. It goes to my top 5 of fall's season

been checking this out too, it cracks me up that half the scenes involving girls has the camera focusing on either their legs or breasts while they are talking (probably the male point of view in those situations lol) in fact the brunette never shows her face as the camera is always focused on her breasts heh

Glad to hear it. :P The first ep was kinda slow and didn't interest me that much tbh. But episode 2 got much better. ;)

I actually liked it since ep1 because of it's unique camera shots...I don't mean this ones

but it's somehow different from the rest. :)

Also wizard is pretty awesome and Sato's cousin is kind *woowooo* in the head but I guess she spices things up.

The Ice Witch's emotionless reading of the gay fanfic about Satou and the Monk made me laugh

I ended up watching this thanks to kos and holy shit... Gives a whole new meaning to earning your bread. Fighting scenes are pretty crazy, this is gonna be a big action source... In before tons of action amvs to it. Assuming they are saving the more intense action for later I'll keep watching this. The story is pretty dull TBH but the sillyness of it all and the action is just great.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Spoiler :
So, the whole point of fighting is to get half price meals because of being short on money, so of course one side is using military grade computers to track everyone in order to win.

I'm quite sad how the Wizard hasn't been showing up in the past 2 episodes though.

I was actually avoiding this series simply for the name. But now that I've watched the first episode, I'm like, WTF did I just watch? Following for now

So am I, I thought there would be some kind of big twist around him and Ice witch since he's her upperclassment and used to be in their club, I mean he even fonded the club.

Spoiler :
This I don't know what crazy revolution about controlling all the sales of half-priced lunches is bit of an extereme
+ that guy that intends not to eat three days in a row? I mean is that supposed to make him stronger? I though human couldn't go for that long without a food and if he could he wouldn't be able to fight anyone

But I truly loved how Yarizui called crossdressing sudden change of male fashion. + that she doesn't judges people based on their preferences and prasing Sato about it being cute... I mean could she make the situation even more funny? :D

I love how she's completely unfazed by the stuff happening around her, no matter how weird. No wonder they call ger the Ice Witch.
