I actually enjoy this very much. Despite the poor characters, I enjoy the overall arching theme behind it all, and the art style is fantastic. Plus, I love the city a lot. It's got a nice setting. Then again, I have a fascination with how money effects people, so this is something that I really enjoy.
Its something I find myself probably watching through the end, and a definite buyer when it hits DVDs. But we'll just have to see where it goes from here.
What the heck is with the storytelling in this show.
Spoiler :
The Financial District just decided to totally screw up the world with no foreshadowing. I mean, we've seen it's effect on the world before, but this seemed so sudden that I thought I missed an episode.
It's getting a little hard to enjoy this, but gonna stick it out.
Since I just watched the first 9 episodes at once, I didn't really feel that anything was too sudden. I guess that how you watch a show can greatly influence how much you like it. I'm definitely on board for the rest of the series though. Episode 10 is gonna be put on Funimation's website tomorrow afternoon, so I'll watch it then.
wait....are they saying that he had a black card from the very beginning? That's so anticlimactic, and completely makes that woman's sacrifice pointless. Its sad that this show has so much potential, but they are making poor plot decisions in order to make it a 12 episode series

Nope.
Spoiler :
If you go back and look, he had a sun card before (which is kind of black, but not really the same) but it's been changed to the black tentacles card. The higher-ups at the bank are jerking him around, almost certainly for some sinister purpose.
I'm glad we got two full fights in that ep, considering my issues with the last few. Certainly seems like the ending will be interesting, but I do wish we had a few more eps to pace things out better.

... actually its only 11 episodes. But yeah, I am tried of making excuses for this show in my desire to see a good economic/financial/business show this season.
Spoiler :
1) Well the rules are not explained because we want to experience things from the protagonist's POV, 2) Well that's just the character, 3) Well, this is Japan. 4) Well, maybe another backstory is important? 5) Well, maybe that part of the continent never existed? 6) Umm, satire of government spending to make things less bad? 7) Well, she's sort of his daughter now, so he's not thinking naughty thoughts anymore? 8) Well, uh "C" is a metaphor for PacMan? 9) Finance is all a game? or economics is Battleship or something 10) Wow, that's a lot of blo-er money... Bah, I give up.
I agree with Kireblue. This show had a lot of potential, but it was so poorly developed. Personally, I think 11 episodes are enough.
The last episode was a bit confusing [No surpise with this show], but seemed to wrap up better than I expected. Looking forward to the dub, the fight scenes were so fluid that I had a hard time reading the subs and watching the animation. At the same time, I'm not entirely sure I'll buy this...but I want to AMV it so it's likely.
