Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto

The story is about a boy called Tact and a mysterious robot Tauburn.

(I'm going to assume his name is Takuto, and not Tact. I'm not sure, though.)

Extra Info:
Takuya Igarashi (Soul Eater, Ouran High School Host Club) is directing the project at the anime studio BONES, and Yoji Enokido (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Aim for the Top! Gunbuster 2) is writing the scripts. Misa and Hiroka Mizuya are collaborating on the original character designs, and Yoshiyuki Ito (Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater) is adapting the designs for animation and overseeing the animation. Satoru Kousaki (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Bakemonogatari) is scoring the music.

My thoughts: Mmn... the character design is a bit too generic for my tastes. And the robot looks like an interesting combination of RahXephon and Gurren Lagann. (Not to mention the galaxy in its hands.. XD) Regardless, I'm always interested in BONES & mecha, especially since this one is an original story: 'been awhile since BONES has made an anime not based on a manga (last one I can remember was Sword of the Stranger.)

We'll recieve further news with the next Newtype issue (which I think actually comes out today.)

Well its clear to see that this anime is probably going to be aimed at more teenage audiences, anyways: whereas Heroman's was mainly directed towards the younger ones (despite that, I'm still enjoying it. There're some aspects which could've been done better, but I still like it.)
Not a fan of BONES, eh? Well, to each their own.

Now, looking at this new art, I thought this:
1. Colorful shiny glimmers are looking A LOT like TTGL colorful shiny glimmers. (Glimmers shown near the assumed waistline of Tauburn.)
2. That robot's design. ... What... ? XDDD I'm most perturbed by the arms, honestly. They're huge. o-o
3. Tauburn is holding these colorful glimmers? ... Ok that would be totally badass if they were his weapons .
4. Main character looks different, whyyy. xD I think the character designs are looking a bit too generic for my tastes.
5. A VERY BIG positive to this anime judging from that picture is the colors. This anime looks like its really varied in color, and I'm gonna love that!~

Ohhhh, the huge things were his thighs/hips, not his arms. His arms are quite skinny, actually. xD Hm... actually from a full view, I don't mind his design. Not bad at all. =3 I wonder what the smoke-type substance atop the crown of his head will represent.

... Nope, don't like it. At all. I'm hoping he'll be a much cooler mech when he gets screentime. I just really hate his design. XD Though I expect he can fire a great series of missiles at one time, so he gets 1 point for that.

heh, Tetsuya looks a lot like Soul [of Soul Eater fame] in that headshot of his.

Ehh not liking most of the character designs/outfits so far [I can't take Benio seriously, she looks ridiculous in each of those pics...], but Takuto, George and Tetsuya look rather interesting, as does Taubern. Still gonna check this out...whenever it's released.
