Re: Kaichō wa Maid-sama!
Episode 1 was better than I expected it would be. =O
I'm likin' the comedy in this big time! And the main couple, though predictable as ever, is actually kind of cute. I jus wish they wouldn't make it so obvious in the OP & ED. xD

Re: Kaichō wa Maid-sama!
my first thoughts: what the hell is with the animation?
after watching whole episode: ..... Misaki and Usui look nothing like I imagined them to be. They don't look anything like they do in the manga. The animation doesn't help. They're voices are pretty good though. But those uniforms... ugh.
It's really looking a lot like Shugo Chara, which pisses me off. And that ending, jeeez. It woulda been fine had they had the firework scene. That kinda messes with things.
I'll stick with it for awhile, but they haven't done the manga any justice whatsoever so far. Hopefully the animation will get better too, though you can't change the things they already messed up (character colors-- hair, eyes, etc.-- and designs.)

yeah the characters do look kinda off... usui should have plaid pants =/
misaki doesn't look serious enough, usui doesn't look cool and mysterious enough, and the colors are a bit ehh.

Why does this plot seem really similar to Kare Kono? I mean REALLY SIMILAR.

There's even a reference in the manga where someone said they had a kare kare kano relationship. I think it was the band singer that gets introduced later.guy07 wrote:Why does this plot seem really similar to Kare Kono? I mean REALLY SIMILAR.
I decided not to watch this and just read the manga, might change my mind after some more episodes are released. Seriously though the manga has reached a point where the comedy is really dry and seems to be focusing more on drama. It's not a bad thing but it's not what I was reading it for. Hopefully it switches back around soon.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

The pacing didn't seem that great to me, but the characters are attractive and the premise is interesting. I would have liked them to introduce more supporting characters to round out the cast a bit more.
I agree that this show reminds me of Kare Kano a bit. Also Special A to a certain extent. It also doesn't help that this show is starting up after Kimi ni Todoke ended and I just finished watching Skip Beat! (talk about contrasts!).

Re: Kaichō wa Maid-sama!
I felt kind of bad for the manga fans seeing this. It was obvious this got the low-budget department treatment from JC Staff, and the lazy/dull colorations didn't seem to match the shojo manga mood it should have given off. If there was a chemistry given off in this epsiode, I didn't really pick it up. That nasty "Special A" taste in the back of my throat...

Watched last night. Was pleasantly surprised. Out of all the premieres so far, this one is my favorite.
