you're right. When I watch a movie it is about quality, not the length. Movies take hundreds of millions of dollars to make, and cost money to watch. This took a shit and cost me piss.

kickass331 what is your problem? You've already said how you feel, so get off of his thread. There is no reason to repeatedly tell someone how much you dislike their video. I admit that even I was a bit blunt when I said how I felt about this AMV, but all you're doing is flaming his video.

it's called haggling. You make a deal with someone, the more you attempt to persuade them, the more likely they are to give in. It's just like telemarketing, or door to door sales.

But there's something you're not realizing here. Now, the reason of why people watch AMVs is that they:
a) Have to be interested in it.
b) Are familiar with the editor and have liked their previous work, so they're willing to at least check out this new AMV
c) Like one of the anime used BIG TIME and are fulfilling their craving for more of it to aid in their obsession.

So, here's the thing. Its because your video had no plot, was filled with way too many effects, and was almost an hour long in length. People are leaving these comments for the purpose of your improvement in the future.
If you wanted to make an AMV to all of these songs from an album, make separate AMVs for each song.

I'm sorry, but your video just needed to be more compelling, rather than placing random clips with random music and random effects.
I would call your video random, yes. I'm sure you spent a lot of time on this and I applaud your efforts once again, but you have to know that its the quality of the AMV, and really not so much the quantity.
Think of this AMV and its comments as a stepping stone for your next AMV. Learn from your mistakes and all that. =)

EDIT: Regarding your point about relating a movie-watching situation to this: there's a difference. Movies have plot, and there's always a problem and a solution. Your AMV was more of a tribute than anything, and again, a rather random one at that.

There is a plot but you wouldn't know that unless you watch it...and i appreciate your...."Opinion" But until you've made the effort to watch i refuse to consider it Valid. thats like me judging your amv and i only watch the intro....I'd atleast watch half...but you didn't even do that much.

You will be respected when you follow the unwritten rules. You can get away with ignoring the unwritten rules, but these rules are unwritten because people judge people based on their senses. The collective senses of you and your peers, the sense of authority, your sense, and the interactive sense. I like bullshiting bullshitters.

There is no plot. Not a visible one anyway. You can tell us all how there is a plot until your fingers are bloody stubs on your keyboard, but after watching 20 minutes (yes... 20 whole fucking minutes) of this video I can safely assure you there is no plot. Your effect use is also very gaudy, try to tone that down a bit, or if you don't then make sure you know how to use effects before you use them in your video.

Second of all... the dual subtitle thing you had going on was so incredibly BEYOND distracting and annoying that it begs me to question what you were thinking when you implemented something like that?

Maybe if there were some theme...or something in this that not only YOU recognize it would grab some interest, but it's very apparent when watching this video that you (very bluntly) don't know the first thing about editing, which is sad, because I DO applaud your enthusiasm and drive to make an hour long video, now if only you'd develop your concept and editing style.. maybe we'd have something.

Start smaller and work your way up.

edit:

P.S. Don't listen to anything Kickass says, he is not a representative of us at the org and never will be, he is just somebody who crawls around here making everybody ask "why?"

@Dante: Fine then. I will do my best to watch all of your AMV. Not only do I hate the music but from what I've seen, I'm not liking the choice of clips. Nonetheless, I guess you're correct on the whole opinion of it, but just so you can shut your trap and feel content with someone watching that whole AMV, I will watch it.

I will then state my opinion when I am done. Its just a wonderful feeling, forcing people to watch your AMVs because you're unable to handle the fact that it can't be viewed for a long time by some people.
Wonderful feeling, really.

and dante, I'd just like to let you know that I recieved a warning email from an admin. Thanks a lot, to avoid a second warning I'll just say this : Fix your video, or I'll fix you. I mean that in a positive way even though it doesn't sound like it.

Ok, I have officially watched this AMV fully, from start to finish. Around 65 minutes, holy God.
/bathroom break

Ok. Now I wrote down timings which recieved comments from me (because hell if I was gonna remember all of the timings due to the videos length xD) as well as normal comments on a piece of paper, so here you are.
1. What was up with the random subtitled add-ins? Once with Cher saying "Geez", another with "Whoops" on some clip which I'm not remembering. Probably something breaking. Did you add those in because you wanted to make it funny, or... ?
2. I really appreciated the lyrics shown at the bottom. Otherwise I wouldn't been able to tell what the heck they were saying the entire time.
3. Once I hit the 20 minute mark, my ears stopped (mentally) bleeding. I seriously can't stand screamo, but after that mark, I got used to it. Still didn't like it, but it wasn't as painful.
4. "Sunlight drenched into my skin" - Nice work with the WR clip of Cheza looking into the moon
5. "Colors are fading" was nice with the colors. But not so much the "fading" if you know what I mean. I saw vibrance when I should have seen fades to black and white or something.
6. 5:10 - 5:14: Uneeded and rather random flashes.
7. 13:38: I liked the effect with Ed's eyes.
8. 18:50 - 19:01 - COMPLETELY random.
9. 27:52 - 27:58: I won't lie, this sequence hurt my eyes. Too much stuff was going on and it felt too seizure-rific
10. 9:09: Really wondering why Ed had orange hair during this scene?
11. Some mistyped lyrics. Eg "Fed a simple" should probably be "fed a sample."
12. Reversed overlays at various points of the video looked odd. They were out of place.
13. 27:26 - Nice clip choice and syncing, with Soul on the piano.
14. The "space man" points during the Gundam portion kind of made me giggle, but I guess it was fitting? xD
15. You switched randomly to a bunch of clips from the Soul Eater second OP at some point. You went from the TV series, to the OP. You needed to mix and match your clips more at that point. Put the TV series and the 2nd OP together.
16. I really liked the atmosphere of the Beck part. Besides the fact that no screamo was there, it gave off a nice vibe with the guitar and everything.
17. "Feed me fear (gluttony)" - Fitting'ish to FMA. Nice work
18. "We will be remembered for this" -OHHH YES. This video will most definitely be remembered.

Ok, so all in all, my opinion is this: Still FAR too long, but it was compelling enough in the category of, "I wonder what clip will play next" to keep me watching the whole thing. There were times when I got drowzy while watching it, though. Also, again, a lot of unsynced and uneeded effects. I understand that its screamo and you immediately think that you should go hardcore, but sometimes you don't need all of those effects. And I'll be honest, the one thing I absolutely couldn't stand in the video was your black flashes. There were maybe two sequences tops where they were actually synced. When they weren't, I cringed. I cringed a lot, sorry to say.
On the positive side of things, by the end of it, the viewer does recieve that epic vibe of the AMV when you're going back and mixing all of the previous anime used in the last 10 - 15 minutes. I enjoyed the fact, for the most part, that this was a tribute. And again, this will most certainly be remembered. I believe this is the longest AMV ever created and I'm actually really surprised that you made this within the short timeframe of 2 months! Hell, my last AMV was made in 2 months and it as only 7 minutes. o_o So, I applaud your efforts (ONCE AGAIN, THIRD TIME SAYING IT XD) big time for the will to create and finish this.

But I strongly, STRONGLY urge you to improve. I did not feel satisfied by the end and it was just (again) so very random for the most part. I thank you for providing me with something to do for a little over an hour since its a bit of a quiet night, though. xD
I look forward to another video, and hopefully this helps you build as an editor. Remember, quality is a thousand times better than quantity. Sometimes quantity is nice, but you should focus on quality. =)

1. I appreciate your long ass text review; i just think its awesome that you took the time to write all this.

2. thanks for watching colors i feel special.

3. to answer some questions you had. 11. Some mistyped lyrics. (Eg "Fed a simple" should probably be "fed a sample."
nah thats the actutal lyrics "Fed a simple, replication of past greatness." (18:50 - 19:01 - COMPLETELY random.) lol Agreed but thats what happens when you listen to BTBAM.

4. (switched randomly to a bunch of clips from the Soul Eater second OP)

And yea i switch to the opening scenes just because at the point i was moving to the second half of the song and the second half of the anime, and i thought it was a good way to foreshadow the piano build up., and most viewer that would watch wouldn't notice the difference.

5. (Once with Cher saying "Geez", another with "Whoops")

And yea, when i threw in "Geez" it was giving the character some dialog and matching with the lyrics "Relaxations steps to bringing me a peaceful life" and she looked stressed out lol. And as far as the *whoops* In the lyrics he says "Unexpected" and the gundam guy got shot in half.....so yes it was to be funny :)

Kinda like in FMA i was like " XD " and it matched the lyric.
But i have a question for u. what was your favorite video?
