Gilou_senior & Snowcrash - Split [AMVnews: Big Contest 2009]

We have finally uploaded this collaborative work on the ORG after AMVnews (Big Contest 2009).

So it's a very experimental AMV, not very easy to watch but with a very interesting concept (I hope  )

We sent this AMV for the Sakura Con 2009 and the Tekkoshocon VII but apparently the concept didn't enjoy the judges (not selected in the finalists  ). But it's difficult to find a category for this music video  .

Enjoy it (or not).

Thanks to Aya for the banner.

PS: VCA 2010 - Best Collaborative AMV ^^

As I mentioned when you showed this to me before, I think the concept is amazing and I honestly love the idea behind it.

In a sense I'm glad you guys decided to keep it relatively simple, trying to follow two screens at once is already borderline visual overload, but it really makes for an interesting sequence. You guys followed a nice pattern/structure and the sync was top notch.

My only complaint would be that it is initially hard to follow. I didn't quite seem to get what was going on, and to be honest was more focused on how you guys were editing it. However, for me that's the real appeal behind this AMV, in that I could maintain a good level of interest merely from editing technique alone. It also allows for multiple re watches to really appreciate it and get the visuals stuck into your head.

I can't wait for people to begin refining this technique more.

4/5 Great job, you're fast becoming one of my favorite editors

P.S. If I were never told that 2 people edited this I would have honestly thought that it was made by 1 person.

Hi guys,

Indeed a very good concept here. I agree with Pas on every point, especially the fact that the editing alone was really absorbing.
What may lack here is a bit of diversity: there's some very good moments (starting from 1.01, and at 2.40, my favourite), but i though the parts would fuse, redivide, that one would grow, that they would turn of 90 or 180°, that some stuff would pass from one to the other, etc ...

Anyway very good editing exercise, especially since you were 2 to make it (and since's you're 14000km away from each other this has probably been hard to conceive ^^).

5/5, for stylish -yet simple- innovation.

Nice concept, but not developed as it can be, I will do something using this idea for basic soon I think.

mood may be the issue. might have to do with the way the music progresses?

I remember seeing this on the amvience forums. I thought it was an interesting idea, and both of you implemented it nicely.

Good Idea, but not exploited at 100%. You could vary the ways of screen splits, it would be even better (diagonal, vertical, etc) !

But it stays a great job, a great collaboration, not too long : I keep. 8-)
