That's Daft Punk. They got permission from Leiiji Matsumoto to use his art style to reference Yamato, Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock, etc...

You have clearly never seen most of the anime in question. I can at least guarantee you haven't seen the original BGC or KOR with a comment like that. >_>

Just for that, I am going to rock out to Kaze no Manazashi (one of the songs Madoka is singing the scenes chosen by Lantis, also my favorite of her songs).

Thank you. I got lucky that I remembered that scene and that I picked up Animeigo's sampler DVD.

Thanks, and it's Interstella 5555, which is essentially a film set to the music of Daft Punk, directed by Leiji Matsumoto.
