I guess it must be some connection rifting going on somewhere, maybe some nutter is treaking the server somewhere in the data centre...

Hey,

Mozilla got less of the file before it dropped the connection. Maybe the file is currupt on the server?

Hey, stop veering Phade away from downloading my Vid!

 x10

I've actually downloaded my own video from the server just to test the speed and see if the file works or not, so it should be okay from that angle as the file plays fine.

Hey,

This brings up a point about compressed (zip, rar, etc.) download files: If files are compressed on server and the downloader gets an incomplete download, there is no way to figure out if it is worth it to try the download again. If the video was in its regular "uncompressed" state, the downloader could view the fragment that they received and then use that to base a decision on wether they should try to download the rest of the video. If they decide the video wasn't as good as they were expecting, this would actually save bandwidth by the user not re-downloading the video. Using the "compressed on server" method as in this case, the downloader will have to re-download and re-download until they get a complete file before viewing the video.

Just making a point.

Hopefully I will be able to successfully download the video soon. ^_^

Hey,

The point was more of a server-side video storage and download methodology thing rather than an individual user's download assistance thing.

Okay, I just got a report generated from my server: here's the specs.

12.07 GB bandwidth used
478 Unique Clients
5986 requests
865 of them are Successful requests
120 of them are Unsuccessful requests

Darn, that means 120 ppl or less didn't get their vids, but on the bright side 865 of them were successful.

Hey,

Hmmm, those numbers seem a bit strange. How can you have nearly 6000 requests, but only 865 of them successful?

Still, a 12% failure rate ain't so good ((865+120)/120).

Beyond the server I can't really control anything, I'll see what I can do about it but it all narrows done to the user...
