Hello! I saw this video at AB and really enjoyed it. =) There was definitely a lot of work put into it and it shows. I especially loved all the character interactions and crossovers.

I won't talk about the technical aspects since I'm not an expert. (Heck, I just started to try some minimal masking myself, and hearing that you mask in Photoshop as well at the Avatar Music Video feedback confirms that yes, it must really be that hard and time-consuming. XP)

One thing I do want to say is that I wish you could've done a little more with the "Identify the Characters" portion by revealing some humorous answers (like calling them by character tropes/stereotypes or "Who cares?")? I was waiting for a clever punchline and it never came. Upon review I think I see what you were going for by pushing Naruto out of the way to show Kakashi, but it's so subtle it doesn't have as much impact as I was hoping for (though I've never seen Naruto so I can't speak for others who might understand the reference better)?

My only other complaint is that it ends too soon haha. Or rather abruptly. Again, it would've been great if there were one more conclusive classroom scene to wrap up the story - like everyone tired out (but happy) after the test and the teacher is actually shown handing back the grade. But it's a minor nitpick.

Overall, a very fun and engaging idea that deserved Best of Show. ^^ You did a great job with it, congrats!

I'm pretty sure everyone has already mentioned in their comments what their opinion is towards the technicalities of the video, so I'm just not going to include that in mine since it's been repeated so many times haha.

Anyway, nice job with this, Katie. All I gotta say is: Dang. And congrats!

I don't mind the technicality, honestly I am not wearing my glasses for 5 years now, so I usually don't see many mistakes in amvs :D :D, but anyway, seemed decent for me, and with so much technicality within an Avatar Music Video like this, you could work on it forever.??
I think you did a great job Katie! My only problem was the song, it felt so lifeless and old for me, it saps the energy of the Avatar Music Video.
Coooongrats on the win, really deserved it!<3 :)

Congratulations on Best in Show! |:>

This was a really good concept, and you obviously put a ton of effort into executing it. There were a few issues I had with it (aside from the color correcting that others have mentioned)? 1) You digressed from you concept. Zetsubou tell them at the beginning that he's going to teach them to be better examples of their tropes, or whatever, but the quiz devolves into a general trivia thing. It would have been better to have either originally introduced the idea more generally or stuck with the idea you gave us. The digressions end up looking like pander for pander's sake rather than cohesive elements. 2) The text needed blurring/feathering and slightly lower contrast. A lot of it looked like it floated on top of the imagery. 3) "Easter eggs" There's a lot of text in here that one can't tell if it's background ornamentation or reading material. It sucked feeling like my eye was drawn to the wrong piece of text, and that I missed something when I didn't get a chance to read the main text before the cut. 4) I think the mix of characters would have looked better if it was less homogeneous. Ash and Usagi really stick out because everyone else is a much more modern style, a few more older characters would have helped that.

Your custom art looks fantastic, the kinetic typography was fun, and the jokes were worth going back and pausing for. So, congratulations again on your win, and good job over all ^_^

Sorry haven't been keeping an eye on this forum!

Thank you everyone for your constructive feedback! It all will help me greatly with my later projects. This project was intensely ambitious and I am pleased with how it came out. I look forward to learning how to improve my technicals (especially color correction ) in the future!

Hmm I didn't think about this. Might be because I dragged this project out for so long. Although not much you can do in 2 minutes while entertaining an audience: personally I would rather answer questions on why tsunderes be crazy but I thought overall audiences would appreciate the more easy questions. I'll keep that in mind though!

These are some totally valid and well thought out points! I dunno maybe cause it's conceptual feedback versus technical but I was really pleased to read this. Thank you! Although I can't do much about that now I can consider the underlying issues and avoid them in the future!
