To be more specific I think the biggest thing disjoining the edit from the music is that you have a lot of rather long clips that just transition into or out of each other by fading to and then from black, and the fade timing doesn't really seem to synch with anything in the song. Try finding a beat or two that you want to consistently hit to develop a rhythm and develop a flow for the video.
