This past fall my roomate and I picked up a section of a UNIX fileserver that I believe to be a piece of my CS department's array of project space. They upgraded some components and this section (which retails for around $3500) wasn't needed. The only catch was that it weighed 100lbs and we had to carry it back to our dorm a mile and a half away (up a couple flights of stairs). I'm no real Hardware guy and my roomate and i decided we really couldn't make much use of it (although we didn't really try). I honestly just want to get rid of the thing, but i'd like something for it. The HDDs alone were selling on ebay for $150 to $300 and there's 9 of them total.
So, here are the specs of what I have and links to online resources i've found to get the thing up and running:
DPE - FC5400 DPE MODULE
Part Number 005045189
MFG EMC/DELL
LCC - CLARiiON Link Control Card (LCC)
Part Number 005042859
MFG EMC
Hard Drive enclosure unit.
Part Number 005043551
MFG EMC
36GB 10k RPM SCSI HDD
Part Number 005046732
18GB 10k RPM SCSI HDD
Part Number 005045932
There are a total of 9 10,000RPM SCSI hotswap drives on here (4 18GB and 5 36GB) and I have 2GB of buffered ECC RAM kicking around for it as well. The information I had on those seems to have vanished in the cleaning of my laptop, so i'll make sure to copy it down again for later.
Edit - finally wrote the #s down
A site set up by someone who owns an EMC CLARiiON FC5400
All of Dell's documentation for the system
If anyone's interested in such a piece of equipment or has any questions, feel free to PM me with them.
Again, i'm trying to sell this thing, so i'm only going to accept serious bids. Thanks everyone. Hopefully this behemouth can find a new home.
