Divine Ascension!

Postby LantisEscudo » Wed May 03, 2006 9:54 am

Animeigo has finally remastered the Oh! My Goddess OVAs, and has a batch ready to go, in advance of the official June release date, for the discounted price of $29.95 ($39.98 MSRP).

And for anyone who bought the old disks, you can send in your old versions to get the new ones for $15 (if you bought both), or $20 (if you only have one).

Details are here on Animeigo's website.

Hmmmmmm... I wonder if they are using the video from the Region 2 release, which is AMAZING looking.

According to reports, AnimEigo has the R2 Japan DVD masters.

I got mine yesterday, and though I don't have the R2s to compare to, this version's video quality is light-years better than the first release. Well worth the money.

I decided to spend the extra $15 and not go the Ascension route, which let mine ship faster. :) Plus my order was in even before this thread got started.

My order in before this thread too.

As for the Ascension route, since I knew about the newer version (JP and rumors of an new R1) and I already own the LaserDiscs, I never picked up the older DVDs, even though I may need them for an AMV. Well, once my set arrives all will be good.

I find it hilarious that the PDF is "omg_offer.pdf".

Yeah, I have the R2's. When I saw the quality difference I was stunned. Also, the R2's are Progressive :-o Wonder if AnimEigo went that route as well.

Personally, I have purchased R2s from CD Japan, Anime Jungle, and YesAsia. I know of the Japanese Internet Goods Shop, but I haven't ordered from them yet, and I consider them a last resort currently, since they don't take paypal or credit cards.

I think I will keep my old DVDs anyway, just because I'm weird like that. Sure, I'll probably get the new ones at some point.

Best place for R2's IMO. Quick turn around. Though in all honesty I can't say I've shopped around too much, but I've never had a problem with them.
