Hey All,

As the description says, this forum is for letting everyone know about special deals on stuff we buy. When you post a deal, please have the following in the post:

1. Brief description of item and expiration in subject (ex. "100 Imation CDs at Best Buy for $8 (exp. 11/24/2002))
2. Details of what the item is
3. Details on how long the special lasts, when the deal expires
4. Details on how to qualify for the deal
5. A link to where the deal is taking place

Thanks again and have fun!! ^_^

Phade.

Would it be kosher to post a thread asking if anyone knew of any good cheap DVD-R burners for instance or is the forum just for posting deals

I don't see why it wouldn't be kosher... perhaps we should self-regulate ourselves by placing [REQ] in the subject header if we have a request for price info on certain items.

This is a good idea. I can never really find good deals on anything, anything worth while  . This should really be a big help. 8)

how bout announcing new freeware like Virtual Dub 1.4.11 or this lil Xvid installer I found at http://nic.dnsalias.com/xvid.html released october 29, includes uh... b frames... and MUCH MUCH more aggressive defaults (but I can't find a version #...)

free is always a good deal ;-p but not every freebie should be shared...

doh!!! never fails...
well according to http://nic.dnsalias.com/XviD/XVID-TWOPASS.pdf it's a dev release that means not quite idiot-proof yet ;-p (and you gotta turn on B-frames btw... I am learning so much today ;-p and q-pel is on when you have the highest settings on) so use at your own risk.

Nah nah, this is DEALS only... Physical stuff. Stuff that usually comes in a box.

Stuff like Vdub that can go in like General Video....

However, neither of those releases are really groundbreaking or worth mentioning really

You know.... you shouldn't use development builds unless I tell you to :P

If they are a significant and useful improvement, they will be in the guides. Believe it or not the guides are pretty cutting-edge, it's just we also choose only what will work best for the most people.

But if you want to do some YUY12 qpel b-frame xvid encodes, give me a shout :)

Hey,

I think announcements of new release versions of the free useful software we all use would be fine here. If the release is a beta or test release, please be sure to include that in the subject.

unless it was something like say. an update to existing freeware.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I looked over the forum rules but I could not find an answer to my question.

I remember long ago that people could not directly sell stuff on the org unless it was in the form of an auction, well, I don't see tha trule anymore and I have a shitload of stuff to sell and Im wondering if I can just post the prices and items and have htem contact me? In other words, is that rule obsolete or is it still affective?
