ADV is at it again...

well, if you don't know, ADV is clearing backstock of a lot of their DVD's and some other stuff as well. This time, it's for Grads and Dads, but basically its just great prices on stuff.

highlights include the full Evangelion series, Final Fantasy Unlimited, and Hello Kitty (?)

sounds like ADV will be getting even more of my money soon...

My only question would be why ADV's catalog is so incomplete, though? They are the publisher of the work -- why don't they have everything available on their own website?

For example, I would like to get all of Azumanga Dai-Oh, but all I see here are the two ani-minis and three volumes of the show: 1, 2, and 4. Where are 3, 5, and 6? :?

(I'll probably wait for the Thin-Pack version of Azumanga to come out, since it would still be cheaper than buying three discounted and three full-priced DVDs.)

my guess is that they are putting stuff on sale that are way, way, way in the back of the warehouse and taking up space. So far, I've seen 3 sales from ADV (Mothers Day, Memorial Day, & this Grads & Dads day sale) and each had different stuff on sale in different forms of completeness.

For example, the first sale I picked up the complete NG Evangelion series, while the second sale only had a few of them available, and this third sale has them all again (for a slighly higher price, too).

A second thought too: they are probably putting stuff on sale that isn't moving or that has a lot of backstock such as the first episodes of a lot of series (such as Azumaga Daioh).

Third thought: they put the first few episodes of stuff for sale so you can get hooked and want to buy the rest...

Or what HG said [hi there yourself HG :D ] the ADV film folks want us to have cheaper sources for our AMV's (doubt it... hehehehehe)

I agree with the hooked thing. I got Kaleido Star for free with one of their sales and got hooked. Luckily for me they had most of the dvds on sale the next time. :)

I bought Nadia col. 1 then now I buy the second collection now. This is good cause I heard a lot of the second collection sucks. ^_^ Both for $40. I think it's worth it. Go ADV!
