Yeah, the worst complaint I heard was that they drilled so far into the case's UPC that it damaged the disc. But I think that was an extreme example.

This is actually the first time I've ordered from ADV, and I know there was a warning in the fine print:

ADV fine print wrote:Unless specifically noted, products (and the accompanying packing) may be previously owned, used, demos or cutouts. Otherwise, products offered through this sale are clearance and close-out items. As such, product bar codes may be reconfigured, replaced or physically altered (including by means of cutting, punching or drilling). Some products may be open box. Some products may be delivered without full retail packaging. Except as expressly provided otherwise, products are sold as-is.

I just ordered the rest of Saiyuki...so should I be worried about damaged discs? Or will it be just the packaging that's altered?

well, I just got my discs (purchased all of NG Eva as well as Megazone 23) and all were still in shrink wrap - however, the UPC's were drilled out. So, I guess that's good, right?

Now I just got to sit my butt down and watch them all...

My son has purchased quite a few and other than the slashed upc they are new in the wrapper. I asked Matt Greenfield ( ADV co-founder ) about this at Sogen-con this weekend. He said they have a warehouse full of anime and are running out of room for the new titles they are working on, by having sales on the older titles he can make room and money in the pocket is better than product gathering dust. Matt and his wife Tiffany Grant are great people, they were super guests to have at the con. Keep watching for more sales.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
