examples

[MOD1369: Subsequent to the below modnote, confirmed that the items linked were bootlegs and removed them. As noted, beware that even a reputable dealer like Amazon can't be responsible for their third-party sales and the reputability or authenticity of those parties]

Kinda makes me wish i had more than $3.28...and its all in change!
Not sure but i think most of theese r free shipping...but still their all new and for that price...wow

[MOD/π: Beware the Amazon allows third parties to sell through their site, and some of those sellers --- especially in their auctions --- may be offering bootlegs.]

I'm REALLY getting suspicious. A lot of these 'imports' sound a lot like bootlegs. Seeing how I've heard reports of it happening on Amazon auctions, I'd actually be cautious...

Yeah, it would be weird for amazon to be facilitating bootleg trade, but it's not impossible.

I checked the Kare Kano listing.

The problem is that Amazon.com is advertising the legitimate R1 5-disc set from TRSI, but some of the sellers are advertising the bootleg R0 3-disc set and listing it as the same item.

Though I DID get the TRSI version of that whole series from an Amazon.com seller at a ridiculous price ($30 or so)... though I ordered the box set, not just the five individual discs, which is what I got instead.

Yea, I was actually seeing that across a lot of the items. The Amazon store itself is obviously legit, but the auctions do get into shady territory. It's supposed to be against their rules, but, like on Ebay, there's just too many bootleggers, and the companies involved are too lazy to put serious efforts into controlling them.

Those are ALL 100% guaranteed bootlegs - bootleggers are selling them through amazon.com, taking advantage of uneducated buyers.
