Many DVD rental companies give you free trials. NetFlix and Greencine have 2 week trials as well. Walmart is the longest I know at 30 days.

I've trialed and cancelled NetFlix and Walmart. They just couldn't beat Greencine IMO. RentAnime is on the other side of the country from me, so the turn around time would be too long for me.

Interesting. I currently use Greencine (I agree, their anime selection kicks Netflix and WalMart all over the place), but I'm on the other side of the continent from them. I may have to give this place a try after I get into my new place, since technically they're closer than Greencine....

Greencineis definetely good. They have the most anime titles. They have competive pricing. Their rates are slightly lower than Netflix. ($19.95 vs. Netflix $21.95 per month) I'll admit some of they're higher demand titles can be hard to get, but unlike Netflix, they will try to get you what's at the top of your list, but if it's not avaliable, they'll go down your priority list and send you the next avaliable title that same day. (I really hated how Netflix would just wait until the title in #1 was avaliable before sending something. It's just an excuse to keep their shipping costs down.)

Greencine uses cardboard inserts to protect the DVD from damage. I've never gotten a bad disc from them. Customer service is always responsive and personal. (Thank you, Celia. ) Greencine periodically has anime trivia contests about once a week where you can be entered into their random drawings to win anime DVDs. I've won a Lupin III DVD from them once, so it is real. They have discussion boards, but the anime discussion isn't nearly as interesting as on a-m-v.org. Greencine FAQ

The only down side is that they have only one shipping center located in San Francisco, CA. Your turn around times will be dependant on mailing time to San Francisco.

Trial Greencine (They don't openly offer trials, so use this link or the promotion code is 'friend' to try it for two weeks.)

If for some reason (sob!) you need to call it quits (sob), you can close your account (waah!) by visiting https://www.greencine.com/account and selecting "Close Account." You will have 10 days after the end of your last billing cycle to send your outstanding rentals back to us. This is your closure grace period. If your discs are not received by the end of your closure grace period, you will be billed for the suggested retail replacement costs of the unreturned DVDs. No additional DVDs will be shipped out to you while your account is in closure state.
