Cheaper anime without them being bootlegs??

Postby Nienna Elentari » Mon Jun 21, 2004 1:01 pm

Looked at all past topics and I only found ones that slightly covered this topic, but not all the way...

I was wondering where you can get cheap anime dvds without them being bootlegs. I've searched and I'm still not impressed with anything I have found.

The cheapest I've found are at Half.com and they are said to mostly be bootlegs and that's prolly why they are so cheap!

I'm looking for a good, reliable site that isn't way over priced. Where do you all get your anime?

If this has already been covered.. I'm sorries, but I did look so don't hate me. ;)

www.rightstuf.com  (I've bought a few cheap ones from Amazon.com that aren't bootlegs, but I wouldn't recommend buying from there. I just made my last purchase there for a while.)

You can shop and compare at DVD Price Search. http://dvdpricesearch.com

I also like to buy from Robert's Anime Corner Store. They actually know their anime and prices are pretty low for not being a large internet chain store. http://animecornerstore.com

www.bestprices.com has prices that are generally pretty low (at least 33% off on almost everything), and while their shipping isn't free, it is pretty fast.

Look for a store called Half Price Books near you: Half Price Books locations

Used DVDs go for $7.98 around here. Not a huge selection, but the stores I've looked at typically had around 50-100 anime DVDs. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

They also have cheap manga, around $3 to $5 each. And often, the manga is not used. I've seen stacks of Tokyo Pop overruns, all new, going for $2.98 each.

I second that notion. if you look around you'll find sellers with domestic dvds going for as little as $5 sometimes. if you find one, check for their other auctions. I've completed a number of series recently by buying 6-10 dvds from one seller. it keeps the shipping cost down, and in most cases I wind up paying less than $10 per disc after shipping. and it's a lot easier to find legit dvds on there now. doesn't seem to be as overflowing with hk's like it once was.
