I've seen much crazier price mistakes that have gone honored. So, we'll see.

A month ago I bought a 160Gig harddrive from Office Depot's website for $70 no rebates and free shipping. There was a coupon for a specific store's grand opening and they accidentally made it so the coupon could be applied by anyone outside of the store's county. I heard of people getting their answers cancel by OD but I got mine 3 days after ordering it.

Good luck AtomX. :)

Bah :\ Got this e-mail just now:

Dear Customer,

We truly apologize about the Kingston 1024 Hyper X memory price
discrepancy on our website last night. The price per unit should have been
$342.00 but somehow our online website had a typo and the price was
mislabeled to $29.99. We are currently investigating the incident. All
orders for this item have been cancelled and all credit card transactions
are currently being voided. Again we apologize for this inconvenience and if
you have any questions or concerns please call 1-888-582-1834 Ext 1500.
Thank you for you cooperation.

Sincerely,

Directron.com
Customer Service

:\ Ah well. Do you think it's worth calling and bitching about it?

A guy named frofan at the Slickdeals forums wrote:I just called customer service to find out if/when the order shipped. They are aware of the problem, and are in the process of cancelling all orders. They gave me a $20 store credit for my inconvinience. The customer service rep said someone hacked the website and changed the price. They have contacted the FBI and local police regarding the issue. I don't know if I could believe that, but call for yourselfs and see what they say.

If someone hacked the site, I would think they would change more than one price!

Just before he posted that the offer came down. I would bitch at him but it seems the regulars at the slick deals website are doing a good enough job already.

As for complaining to the site itself...

directron.com's Price and Tax Policy page wrote:Directron.com has everyday low prices that are updated as frequently as daily. Therefore, customers can get the most current market prices for most items. This is especially useful for CPU and memory for which prices fluctuate daily. Directron.com does not offer any price guarantee or protection. What you see at your order page is what you get. Directron.com is not responsible for any typo on the web site and reserves the right to change the prices of any item at any time.

It might be disputable but I doubt anything fruitful will really come out of it.

This is why I never order from Directron or BuyAIB :?
Last time I relied on BuyAIB for part for work, the delivery took 2 months and then the RAM showed up DOA. I had to reorder the ram twice before I got good parts. That made my customer happy!
Directron was worse they "lost" my order and I was on the phone several times a day for well over a week getting them to honor the credit card. Then come to find out the "match pair" Corsair memory I bought wasn't even close. "By 'match pair' we meant that it was a bulk shipment of the same size and type of memory."

Newegg > by far!
