One of the surplus/overstock places I got 'new deal' emails from now has the Videonics Command Post editing controller (
http://www.softwareandstuff.com/img_commandpost.html) on sale for $10. Essentially, it's an inexpensive version of the Shuttle editing controller that a number of editors swear by. I got a Command Post free with my Adobe suite, and it has been quite useful. It's not perfect, but it is definitely worth the $10 (plus shipping, I'm sure) if you're interested in having a jog/shuttle wheel and having the ability to customize the buttons for common operations. A word of warning, though- I have heard that getting it to work under XP can be a bit tricky, though I'd never tried it myself (my main comp runs W2K). The software application allows you to define custom profiles for a number of common applications (like AE & Premiere) and though I've never used it, you're supposed to be able to add applications to the list that you have profiles for.
