This Ethical?

Postby Onibakun » Wed Apr 07, 2010 11:54 pm

I've recently been thinking up this amv that I've always wanted to do for a while but just the other day I saw this other AMV that had the exact same concept.

The thing about his was that he had a totally different music score than mine but the same editing that I wanted to do.

I just don't feel comfortable doing mine knowing that someone's already done something LIKE it.

I'd like some words of wisdom from y'all.

-Thanks. Oniba

The music is different... but they're both the same tempo and genre.

If AMVs are ethical by your standards, then yes. Go for it.

I made a video that used both the same anime, song, and concept as another video, because in my opinion the other video in question thoroughly sucked, but all the pieces were there for a good video. Thinking about doing the same thing for another video.

So do it.

It's only ethical if yours is better. :)

Go for it! I'd say this even if the other AMV were one of mine.

Ethics have nothing to do with the imagination. Making AMVs isn't about putting X anime with Y song and making sure that particular combination is now your entitlement, but about taking that video idea and doing it to the best of your creativity.

Then re-making it three years later when you realize how bad it turned out. :p
