-Talk to yourself. Whenever I am working on ideas or formulating plans, I pace back and forth through my apt with a notepad (or eeepc) in hand. This has a very mad scientist like vibe to it. Don't be alarmed if you cackle in an evil way when you come up with a good idea.

I definatly do this. When I'm full of energy and I work on something there is most of the time no way around it.

I will try your advices for getting energy. Thank you very much for posting your tipps! However I have no problems with getting ideas. I just need to listen to music and that's it.

Sleep more and yes that first meal of the day shortly after waking up matters... I believe it was called breakfast.

Oh wait this is a general thread for AMVs.

Uh... Sugary foods actually adversely effect thinking, concentration, and overall focus so maybe cut down on those while editing and instead eat something with B Vitamins and fatty acids (good for the brain?). So ya if your one of those people with a short attention span or easily lose your focus/gets distracted... Sugar will make that worse. I don't really have energy problems when it comes to amvs though...
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Surprisingly that list has pretty much everything that I do except for the changing or adding of clothes; It's more the lack of clothes for me (Australian heat sucks...). To add to the list:

- Exercise/working out: I usually get off my computer every 30 minutes or so to do some brief exercise; whether it be push ups, sit ups, crunches or whatever comes to mind. It keeps me active and focused.

- Hang out with friends: Try to spend as much time with your friends as possible. Don't just sit at home and edit, gtfo and enjoy some company. It's fun, relaxing and can help with spawning new ideas.

- Dance: I B-boy, which kind of is my workout/exercise, but even if you don't know any kind of dance, just do something. Hell, pick up a dance and make it your second/third/whatever hobby. It's a fun way to exercise and should make you a lot happier.

- Listen to music: While you're taking a break, masking, going out somewhere etc. just turn on some music. It usually keeps me entertained and inspires new ideas and projects.

- Try to get proper sleep: I have the problem of sleeping too late or not getting enough sleep. I get easily agitated from the lack of sleep and it makes me lazier so getting the right amount of sleep helps me get through the day so much better.

That + ZephyrStar's list is pretty much what I do.

The brain needs glucose. If you want to get your head back to normal, try something sweet.

Sugar isn't the only way to get glucose, you also get it from citrus fruits and such. But yeah, I remember one professor recommended eating a candy bar or something while studying to help with something or another. Of course I never really followed his advice as I stuck with Dr. Pepper as I studied.

I also read that going a different route to work/school than the usual routine helps with your creativeness, as the change of scenery refreshes your mind or something along those lines. There was something about writing whatever came to mind for a certain amount of time, but I don't recall the details and such. Whatever it was, I'm pretty sure it's some really good advice.

Yeah, I much prefer natural sugar with all the vitamins to the processed/refined/vitaminless sugar of a candy bar. I love me some damn grapes. And yes, it is a very good thing to just unplug and do nothing for a day, be lazy. I'm by no means advocating being a workaholic or in the case of AMVing a hobbyholic? But I find if I come home after work and I feel like ass, if I get some exercise, I feel less like ass and more like maybe doing a couple of hours of something fun. My weekends generally involve laying around for at least a few hours though :)

Currently... not working any technique on myself to get my inspiration, but when I edited AMVs I listened to music while I drank a Pepsi, that motivated me

Good thread ZS... the truth, I want to edit an AMV but I have no inspiration

Iron Chef.

Give yourself (or have someone give you) a song that you've been listening to and like, but don't have any solid ideas for. Rip something fast (or take clips you have) and try to finish something sexy in 2 hours.

I can definitely say that the videos of mine that I enjoy the most are my ICs, and more often than not it gives me motivation to work on something bigger.

Plus pretty much everything Chris said. I need to buy myself a whiteboard so I can keep my ideas close by and always visible.

Also, I love Ileia's minibetas :3
