what the (fmvs in the media again)

Postby downwithpants » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:46 pm

disney/live action fmvs published:

http://www.theweek.com/article/index/10 ... hup_videos

i don't know if the publication (The Week) got licensing rights to show the videos (seems unlikely) or if they're claiming fair use, but i'm sure the editors didn't. seems like trailer amvs (in addition to amv hell like shorts) have a better shot at redistribution perhaps under fair use though.

also video 2 is pretty good.

I don't know about pretty good but at least it's not a total fuckup like the rest of them are. I'd say the author of this stupid blog made all these videos probably this morning ^_^

I already talked about this with friends ... we came to the conclusion it's Pocahontas meets Fernguly, just with no singing.

As for people using fmvs ... expect it to happen more and more often.

Wasn't Ferngully already Pocahontas?

Actually, Ferngully was released before Disney's Pocahontas.

Yeah, and Pocahontas met John Smith before Walt Disney was born. My point was it's kind of silly to say a story is the combination of two other stories that are basically the same anyway.

Ah, I see. The wording kinda confused me there.

My favorite and original storyline was the dude being a parapalegic getting to run again. Unfortunately they never went into that little honeypot. HUGE missed opportunity there.

What I really liked about that is he kept moving in front of large moving vehicles when he was wandering the base.

lol yeah that was a rather intense scene for me lol when he escaped from the hospital. The rest of the movie was actually rather Transformers 2 like. Pretty blah but very pretty too :x.

worst thing is it fricken took the storyline away from my latest (unreleased) AMV. I'm still sending it to cons but WTH James Cameron?? lol

lol I hope that's a joke... cuz we got a balloon-head on another forum who thinks it paints the 'humans in such a bad light' yeah whatever lol. Youre gonna absolutely HATE my next amv then lol.

Racist or not... Avatar was a big disappointment...

The only good about Avatar was the effects and watching it on a 3d Cinema...

And ofc the original scenario... ( sarcasm )

Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves, whatever....sooooo many movies have the same exact plots as others before it. It's not like it's something specific to Avatar.

This is just me, but I loved Avatar. Again, just me.

I don't think that it is a rip of Pocahontas. The original story is of how the Europeans came to America and drove them from their lands. Both of the movies are simply versions of that story.
