HAHA. MY PS3 takes up a lot of my time especially since I got the new Steel and Titanium pack for my Killzone 2. Street Fighter 4 Online and Rag Doll Kung Fu are just so awesome XD

As stated, I'm still working on my editing style. I don't do this to be popular, and I don't care. What I need to do is go back to the basics or at least go back to my old way of editing for at least one video and see what I can do with it. Meaning, I need to go to to the Pre-Masking editing that I used to do. Before I learned all thsi fancy jargan and start from scratch. Been thinking about it a lot lately.

Its simple.

Dismiss all whiny little twats that want you to hit beats with white flashes. And listen strictly to the feedback of the people who matter and know their shit.

More often then not that'll lead to unorthodox and GOOD feedback.

I matter and know my shit.

I suggest you have 3d Extending flying boobies that twist like a vine on a hydro pole.

Now THAT'S good advice.

Also,

Use particle illusion to have small disembodied haruhi heads flying out of someone's gaping maw. May I suggest Keropi?

Disagree completely. If you listen to em just cause they "Matter" and "Know Their shit," then all your doing is conforming to other peoples standards and interests, not your own. I question the whole point of editing a video yourself if your just doing it the way someone else would prefer it done, just cause they "matter" or "Know their shit". Furthermore, if your just doing it to receive good feedback then thats like creating something just for the sake of receiving praise. Wouldn't you rather create something you want to create and/or be pround of yourself regardless of what others think? Some one else said it before in this thread (I don't remember who)... Do what you want to do and if others like it along the way then consider that a bonus.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying don't take what they say into consideration, by all means. Though listening to them just to get good feedback from them is flat out disregard for your own interests unless your only interest is praise. If your at that point you should question whether making amv's as a hobby is what your really doing.

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

It is a hobby for me. And I'm not just doing it for praise. Praise being a bonus as stated. I think you guys confused my words. I love making AMV's and there ain't a damn force in the world that can stop me from making them.............except maybe my fiancee....but that's besides the point. The point is I love doing. And if I want to hard cut and ad a quick overlay fade with a opacity reduction then quickly go to a fade or flash....then I will XD

I'm pretty sure "Good feedback"

meant "High Quality" not "ego boosting"

It doesn't have to be as extreme as you're making it. Good feedback isn't the Borg, your not going to get assimilated, your video isn't going to suddenly turn into a made-by-committee artless piece of trash.

The reason people seek feedback from people who "Know their shit" is because they can see what you're trying to invoke, and comment on how effective it is. They might even offer suggestions as to how to make your ideas better. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Behind every masterpiece is a ruthless beta tester for whom nothing is good enough.

I still don't understand why it has to be people who "Know their shit" though. How effective it is would vary from person to person and suggestions can be given from even people who don't know their shit that the editor would like. I guess my problem is that niotex made it sound like relatively new and upcoming editors are worthless P.O.S.'s for ops/sugs and they are not. Their opinions and suggestions are just as important and can be just as creative as the people who "Know their shit".

IMO any kind of feedback is good feedback. People forget that this is a hobby and for someone to take time out of their time just to watch something you have created out of personal interest is considered a win already. If they didn't like it at least they told you so, and even may have commented as to some reasons. The people that apparently don't know their shit are just as important regardless here.

I only made the point of disregarding your own ideas/interests over the people who "Know their shit" sound extreme because it is. The choice is yours so don't let them make it for you. However they can effect it and suggest alternatives but the end result is, it's still your choice.

All so: I already said take what they say into consideration, but I guess I could of elaborated more.

uninformed opinions are useful, up to a point. they can tell you what isn't working, but not why.

knowing what isn't working can help you make a given video better, but understanding why it isn't working will make you a better editor.

not all feedback is equal.
