What have AMVs done for your career?

Post by Machine » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:02 pm

Hey Guys,

I haven't posted here in a while but its great to see that the ORG is still going strong. I just wanted to let everyone know that my brother and I have re-launched MindWarp Entertainment. Check out our new website at www.mindwarpentertainment.com.

I took down most of my AMVs since we are a film/video/web production LLC, but you can still find all of my old videos here at a-m-v.org. :D

So to the point, what have AMVs done for your career? For myself, they really paved the way for film/video/web production. I'm currently editing a feature film, short film, and several other commercial videos for several companies here in Austin, TX.

What have AMVs done for you:?:

That's really amazing and congratulations on that, I hope you'll get the benefits and recognitions coming to you in the future. As for what AMVs have done for me....they opened my mind up to more creativities dealing with editing and career wise I may take up a career in movie production later on. Right now I need to get a degree in something since this recession is bad and I hate my current job, I'll get one faster in the major I'm in now which is Business. Once I get a job in that field and stack more money I'll go back for movie production, once again congratulations.

You should know, Carlos! I minored in PR/journalism and ended up making political crap after I left Austin.

Inhibited it.

More specifically, I spent six years or so doing videos in my spare time when I should have been keeping up with new developments in a field that interests me. Remedying that has been a long process of catch-up.

It's highly likely that my interest in motion graphics/digital media would not have gone very far had it not been for my involvement in AMV's. Now I'm well into completing my degree in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics and have been getting freelance work in the field. I also met my wife through the community.

So altogether, I'd say it's been pretty damn positive. Though frankly my motivation to make any more of them has been hindered by my aspiration to spend my creative energy on stuff that could actually benefit my career.
