Overboard? Porn? No such thing. All porn is good porn.

Why am I NOT surprised that Koop's video was mentioned immediately and has so far remained the only specific video mentioned?

Here's a good indicator: when 9/10 of the reviews that you get mention something about "headaches," "epilepsy," "seizure," or "way too many flashing things," then you've gone overboard.

I don't have epilepsy, but I did have a seizure once. I was on Wellbutrin at the time. Some videos should include a warning that says "if you have epilepsy, or are taking Wellbutrin or other medications, consult a doctor before watching this video"

Also, because I made a big deal about it right away.

Ermac's "The End of Me" goes overboard on the crazy still frame flashies

MJ's "Seasons in the Sun" goes ridiculously overboard on the lyric synch

despite what anyone says aobut "A creator can do whatever he wants in his video and has the right to do so" this advice is NOT going to improve any AMV's I make, nor is it going to make the video any more enjoyable for a person that watches it.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I think that Jbones video (I cant remember the name of it) but its the Big O one that is nothing but flashes everywhere, went overboard after about 2 seconds. That video LITTERALY hurt my eyes. I honestly couldnt stand to watch it more than once because it wasnt fun to watch, just painful.
I just watched Silvermoons new video, and I think this is a perfect example of a video that is too eager to use digital effects, and ignores the basic nature of rhythm and sense of rhythm. There is just too many things poping out of time, and I cant "get into the groove" as it were. They are all very well exicuted effects, but I just kept waiting for something to establish the beat. Nothing hard, just scene transitions on the beat or measure maybe.

I think I know which vid your talking about, the big O video to the fastball song harsh light of day? That vid nearly gave me an sezure. my eyes hurt after about the fourth time I saw it.

Overboard? whazzzat? (applies invert to another 400 frames) Sometimes
going overboard is half the fun of making a video... depending on what
you are presenting of course. (applies additive white dissolves to another
60 beat syncs)

Of course going overboard or using effects doesn't guarantee that your
audience will like it!

The view of a given video between editor vs. viewer is dramatically
different... so the editor simply has to rely on the "what I want to see"
instinct... which might be overboard... Nothing I know anything
about!!!
I have sinned. I made a video I wanted to make that was music + anime + sync + action + effects/transitions. Oh lordy.
