OK, here is my new vids timeline.
Image
The key thing about this image is that third track, it has clips in it, but if you look the little "eye" icon is deactivated (that track is not viewed) I use that as "shelf space" for the clips that I might use later. This is what the tracks looks like in the end, so you can see that I never really did get around to using those clips.
Also notice that (unlike pretty much anything else Ive done) this video is extrodinarily simple and works almost entirely on a single line. The only time I use the lower line is the couple of occasion I wanted to transition. If you see the video ("Kamikakushi Overture") you will see that almost nothing special happens technically, so the simplicity of the timeline really reflects the simplicity of the video and the... well... the lazyness of the production.

Your Inu Yasha source looks like its relatively low quality. Wait until I release my BEAUTIFUL region 2 sourced AMV tentatively titled "The Worlds Between Us" sometime within the month", it will beat your pithy video to a pulp!

No really, that all looks really straightforward.

Well, it IS a gif...

Anyway, I ripped the DVD and stuff, so yeah...

Also, I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL YOU GET BACK! I WANT TO SEE IT!!!!

What's so special about A/B editing?

Anyway, I LOVE SPIRITED AWAY!!!!!

Okay, with that said.

I always use only two lines for editing, but for my Mononoke Vid, I spent three days putting each seperate clip of the movie into different categories.

Each track was a category.

They were like this:

Men/Samurai

Girls/Women

Eboshi

Moro and Cubs

Boars

Kodama

Forest Spirit

Ashitaka

San

Ashitaka and San

and more fun stuff.

It was a bitch deleteing them all at the end.

Ashton's already uploaded it, although he calls it by it's Japanese name since he's in Japan. It was his 'secret video' I need to get to work on my own video, I've been letting it sit and fester on my hard drive for 5 months now. :/

Not because Im in Japan. I call Ah! Megamisama by its American title, because its a cool title, and, to be blunt, I think Ah! Megamisama isnt very fun. On the other hand "Spirited Away" doesnt hold 1/100 of the meaning of the original title which would take a small lesson in Japanese (Chinese) character set and a Japanese history lesson to correctly convey in English. Besides, nobody I know calls it Spirited Away, so Im just used to calling it Sen To Chihiro No Kamikakushi.

Could you enter the Kanji? I can read Kanji pretty well if it is close enough to the traditional Chinese characters. (Since I am Chinese :) )

I forget what it means.

Like, Sen and Chihiro and Journey. That's what I got from the French one...

Yeah, I suck.

The kanji are 千と千尋の神隠し (Klin - sorry, but the hiragana are "to" "no" and "shi" in their respective order. "To" means "and", "no" is the possesive marker like "of" but reversed and in this case it is simply attaching sen and chihiro to kamikakushi, "shi" is just part of that word that puts it into the neutral noun tense)
The ironic thing about the kanji (and this is part of the movie too) is that Yubaba is kinda lazy or whatever, so she removes 3 of chihiros 4 kanji. So she looses her last name (which nobody knows or cares about anyway) and then she looses 尋 as well. The funny thing about this is, that every kanji has an individual meaning. In names, they are mostly just used as pretty was of writing sounds, but when the second kanji is removed, her name takes on the whole meaning (and pronounciation) of the first kanji. So instead or her name going from "Chihiro" to "Chi" her name turns into "Sen" the pronunciation of 千 which means "One thousand".
Thats the kanji lesson, whos up for the history lesson? ^_^
