I tend to start with my audio track at the top and video tracks below and then work downwards that way. But I also tend to move the audio track around, especially if I'm working on a particularly tricky segment, I'll bring it down to be above the current video track, that way I can keep the waveforms in mind much easier thus being able to sync a lot more correctly and work from there. More times than not it just ends up staying wherever it was utilized last.zibbazabba905 wrote:I've seen a few of you keep some video tracks underneath your audio track, is that just an organizational thing or is there some benifit to that (like not wasting rendering resources)?

I've always edit with my audio track at the top. I don't know if there's a quality issue about it, but I'm a creature of habit and this is my norm when editing.zibbazabba905 wrote:I've seen a few of you keep some video tracks underneath your audio track, is that just an organizational thing or is there some benifit to that (like not wasting rendering resources)?

Back from hiatus and almost ready to actually start something.
And yes I'm aware it's not a timeline.

I actually need to do the same thing today. Tried to get my file server up and running but it's been nothing but headaches, so I'm going to just pop a 2TB drive out of it and move the 900GB or so of footage I'm not using from my main editing RAID to storage so I can finally get to work on my damn CTcon entry.

Not until this hits $89 again >:|
Two years ago I bought 4 of these for that price.
Though, these things are still a deal at even $135...mine have performed like a boss since I got em.
Just waiting for SSDs to hit $1 = 1gb >:|
