When you are working on multiple projects at once and a high priority item comes in for a preferred client you WILL drop what you are doing and use the most efficient method to wrap projects up so you can spend more time and energy on your preferred client's contracted work. It is ludicrous to assume all projects are equal and that using presets is somehow beneath one's professionalism.
I guess it's also a stretch to assume that anyone's doing this stuff professionally.

===

Also, every effect I've ever done in any video is a canned preset.

(I'm totally not lying.)

And nobody's ever complained.

So either

(1) nobody watches my videos, or
(2) nobody's noticed

Either way, no problem for me.

Way to derail my fun :(

I was hoping someone else would flame the OP in either their own train of thought or jump on my bandwagon. OP... just noticed I have been typing that here. Hard to break WoW posting habits I guess =p

Threads like this one seem to happen a lot lately if I base my decision on the few times I am really fucking bored and browse the forums. Why do people bother to discuss topics such as this. Unfortunately the community is too large to bring back more specific posts so instead we discuss why instead of something more meaningful or concrete.

Bottom line: AMV creators must not care what someone else thinks the trend or proper way to do something is. The only saving grace of this enthusiast hobby is that it achieves creativity through its experimentation which people must discover on their own. The only people that should be concerned with trends and the proper methodologies to perform tasks are real professionals.

I propose that everyone stop creating these why/trend/etc discussions and do something productive with their lives such as

1) Play world of warcraft
2) Create an AMV
3) Troll threads on the forum
4) Take a night out on the town with your significant other
5) Download hardcore pornography
6) Retire from AMVs

*NOTE: These are not ranked in any order of preference. Please feel free to update with your own list*

The sig, read it.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
