It's been long enough, right? Let's see your editing rig.

Dual screen improves the workflow a lot. You can keep track of more things in more space at the same time... really does help fastening the editing... and not only that, actually.

I use dual screens (4:3 monitors right now) but I find it helps as I can make on one my preview screen large and have my timetime and menus on the other one. It's expeically helpfull in AE when I doing a lot of masking

sorry but something about that mouse just screams 'noob'... trackballs are SO much better for editing than evil evil mice. Some ppl find it takes some effort to get used to but it can save your arm :o also I'd just imagine it's a HELL of alot easier with the ULTRA high res monitors and dual screens giving 2x the real estate and so on. Other than the fact that newer mice have lazors and TONS of buttons (if your into that sort of thing) you REALLY should give a trackball an EXTENDED trial. Give it a week to a month. You may not like gaming with it, but editing with one is a BREEZE. Get a Kensington. I just wish they made a new trackball in the last decade with lazors... but when editing, lower dpi is actually better as human movements aren't exact (and neither are moving around big vobs on a timeline lol). scroll wheels aren't big on trackballs either, so it's best to get a keyboard with one of those on them.

Pay some attention to your mouse and keyboard, your finger muscles will thank you for it.

btw if you like TONS of buttons (and mainstreme os') get the mx revolution. It's not a gaming mouse, but the thumbwheel on it is a thing of BEAUTY

I do the same in AE. But when I'm working in Premiere, I use the one screen for my timeline, and the other for the rest. I find it's helpful if you have to expand a bunch of tracks. My husbands comp has one monitor and if I have to do something on it....I ask him, how can you work like this? I could never go back to just one screen.

Also, dual monitors are great when some comes over that's never seen dual monitor, and they think you have two computers on the same desk. I like to freak them out by grabbing something on my desktop and dragging it to the other monitor LOL I never get tired of the look of amazement on their face, followed by the 'How did you do that?'

QFT! It happens to me aswell; every time a friend that hasn't seen how two monitors work comes by and I drag something on the other screen, the reaction is exactly the same! XD

This is the first time I post in here (I think :?)... Anyways, here's my workspace, please don't mind the mess. Oh, and the AIO printer ran out of ink XD

Right now I'm working on a "new" AMV: it is an old project, which I'm starting again 'cause my PC caught a virus like 2 months ago and I had to format it. I lost all the data, including almost all of the project files :(

My first post to the forums and I have been a member for I don't know how long... I guess I came across the site when YouTube started.

Let see where to begin...

I got 2 mac book pro 17" one running at 2.33 ghz and the other at 2.6 ghz both have 2 gigs of RAM and a PowerBook G4 17" running at 1 ghz

VRAM one is 256mb and the other 512mb on the MacBooks and 64mb on the PowerBook

the extra monitors include:

A 30" cinema display attached to the 2.33ghz MBP with a 6 x 8 Wacom Intuos 3

A Wacom Cintiq 12UX display on the other MacBook 2.6ghz

A 47" Vizio attached to the PowerBook (I probably gonna have to ditch this as soon as Apple releases a Mac Mini with wireless N cards into those.)

external hard drives include:

A terabyte Western Digital which backs up my iTunes library Firewire (I would not advise you to buy since they can't copy over 4 gigs at a time. I assume this is some DRM or pirate prevention measure they employed into the product line)

A 320 AcomData Firewire interface

A 320 Western USB 2.0

A Maxtor 160 Firewrie

wireless network:

5 Airport Express (g version) with corresponding stereo units

1 Airport Extreme Base Station (n version)

So with all that gear AMV is of course is overkill. What I do with the machines is mostly web graphics and illustrations. So, the issue of getting comfortable in a work environment that sounds pretty convoluted, furniture would be a pretty difficult to come by.

I got a Herman Miller Aeron chair with a Levity work station. The desk is adjustable from sitting to standing positions.

I guess that's it other than a pic to post to corroborate my claim.

Will post pics shortly but in the meantime... When you get a chance checkout my AMV
