(the text got pretty messed up when the picture was uploaded, oh well.)
Also, don't mind the typos...

Looking at your picture, I'm amazed that you took the time to outline every element O_o

I just ordered a new rig... will post it once it all gets here :)

EDIT: and, here it is (apologies for the crappy picture quality. My DSLR doesn't have a wide angle lens so I had to use my point and shoot, and the lighting kinda sux but W/E!)

I'll probably have a real rig soon, though. Working on it.

I haven't really been editing as of late, but 3 of those PCs were at some point involved in editing of all my videos since 2006.

I don't edit in any particular location, I tend to edit everywhere since I use a laptop, so I don't have a "desk space" setup for editing. My last project I edited from my recliner using a TV stand to hold the computer...I sold the first one (pictured below), and the second one is out for repairs due to the motherboard being defective, but here are stock pictures of what I've used to make AMVs (both running Windows 7):

Editing 1080p on a 13.3 inch screen is fun, lulz... :dino:

*ell it's About Time!
I decided to build a new rig since my old one was getting old (duh!)

I'v been using it for a couple of weaks and so far I'm really happy with the performance, specs below for the interested. I went with a AM3+ socket so hopefully I can upgrade to Bulldozer when it comes out :P
Or thats what I had in mind, problem is the motherboard runs a 870 chipset. Didn't think about dat lol.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 3.2Ghz 1090T Black Edition
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon 6670 1GB (overclocked)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
HDD: 1TB SATA (only 1TB? I'm pro and use only half of that)
PSU: 700W

Desktop:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k 3.3ghz, Quad Core (Overclocked to 4.4ghz)
Memory: Patriot Sector 5 DDR3-1333 16GB
Graphics: Powercolor Radeon HD 6850
Power: Corsair Builder Series CX600
Cooling: Corsair H60 Liquid Cooler
Display: Asus VH236H x 2

...IT'S NOT ENOUGH. I'm dead freakin' serious. 4.4ghz and 16GB is NOT ENOUGH. One time I was rendering out a 3D, motion tracked background for a green screen project and After Effects was like this 'Sup! Seems you wanna render this on all four cores using four instances and that's totally cute! But you see, I need 8GB of RAM just to render this out on ONE core, I refuse to use the last 2GB of System memory, so that leaves you with 6GB free. So I'm NOT gonna render this using multiple instances and I'm going to use just one instance which, despite multithreading, will only use 50% of your total CPU power. So this 6hr render job will take 12hrs! Awesome, huh? Maybe you shoulda used less 3D lights? :D"

...So I'm probably going to pump it up to 32GB of RAM over the summer and also upgrade the CPU to this: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/I ... 3770K.html

The 3770K will only have 200mhz more total, but it's an Ivy Bridge so it should offer 20-30% more power per clock over my Sandy Bridge, has 2MB more cache and since it's a 28nm part it should allow more over head for overclocking. Maybe I can get it to 4.7ghz - 4.9ghz. Then I can use the CPU and RAM that I remove to build a dedicated render box that'll hide in another room. I also think I need a third monitor, but that's no biggy to attach.

I'm not a huge pony fan. It's more that, ten years ago I started naming my PCs after Sailor Scouts but I was getting a new laptop, a new desktop, and refurbishing my old shitbox desktop into a home theater PC and I wanted a more modern naming scheme. The wallpapers just match the PC names. The TV's PC itself, you rarely see it's wallpaper because it boots directly to XBMC and you rarely see anything on it.

However, it is remarkable in that it's a pile of crap that plays 1080p using DirectX Video Acceleration.

CPU: Athlon 64 3200+, Single Core
RAM: 2GB
Graphics: AGP Radeon 4650

Yeah, AGP. I had to dig up an AGP DX10 card so it could use DXVA for video decoding for it. However it also has a secondary purpose, it's a storage server. ...It's not a terribly FAST storage server however. It has a 1gbit ethernet adaptor, but it's on the internal PCI bus so it doesn't get CLOSE to 1gbit, more like 360mbps. It also has SATAI HDD controllers on PCI slots, which thusly compete for bandwidth with the ethernet adaptor when transfering. I put DriveBender on it, which lets me assemble multiple drives into one logical drive for windows, without the caveats of a RAID0 arrangement. Also, specific folders are set to 'Redundant' where copies are kept on multiple physical drives and checksums are used to keep them valid. This is where I store 'warm' backups of film projects and other important material. DriveBender was a pretty nice piece of software for $20.

But yeah, it's basically 'A very useful bucket of crap'. :)
