Ok, whoa, I never said AMV's as a whole aren't art;

to me, AMV's are editing practice for the real music videos I make.

If your argument is that AMV's aren't art because you're just editing clips already made, that's fine, although the editing level of some videos (recollection for example) brings it to an art level where the original clips are almost unrecognizeable.

If your argument that video editing in general isn't an art, that's fucking stupid. I mean, I make *money* off of music videos, not AMV's, but editing music videos for bands, artists, etc; I just recently completed one that's on a musician's addenum DVD, published both in Tokyo and America come October 12th.

Now, personally, there is a level to when it's art and when it's not.

If you get some clips of you and your friends skateboarding and just put them in order, that's not art.

If you get some clips of you and your friends skateboarding and you mask out your friends from the background, replace it with a huge skate park, and have flames coming off of the back of their skateboard, and when they land the entire park quakes and starts to crack and crumble, while music's playing in the background to fit the mood, THAT'S art.

Most things that this pertains to are SOME form of art.
