n00b has 2 questions :D

Postby chikoto » Sun Dec 15, 2002 2:30 am

Well here are my new questions (also sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, I didn't know which one ^__^;):

1. I have a iMac and I know it is possible to make AMVs on it but I just don't know the write applications. Anyone know?

2. Does anyone have the FF8 AMV with the song "Come what May" from Moulin Rouge by June? The current link doesn't work, and if you do have it, would you mind sending it? I do have cable.. ^__^;

Thanks! :D

yeah, everyone here who's decently experienced tends to use adobe applications, whether for video or pictures, or anything really. And something to remember is adobe was made for macs, every adobe program on the pc was released first on a mac, so yuo can find any of them that you want, maybe even something the pcs don't have yet.

but ayanami_soul has good advice, you should do that.

that says tends to. And if I'm so wrong, why is it that the adobe aps are the most reviewed on the site? and most asked about? I realize there are exceptions, but I am right. Most of us tend to lean towards adobe. I don't see how you could disagree, most likley just because you use something diffrent. also classes at my highschool, and all the colleges I've been to offer classes on most all of adobe apps, not much of anything else though. I don't think think you have much of anything to back your statement up of, "No."

The reason why I disagree is because experience has nothing to do with what software you use. I can provide anecdotal examples of AMV editors -- mexicanjunior, Red Wolf, Kai Stromler, nightowl, so on -- but that would be unnecessary.

I have seen amazing videos done with old equipment, and really bad videos done with modern equipment.

Yes, the Adobe applications are the most reviewed. Yes, they have the most questions asked about them. If anything, it just shows that Adobe has a really good marketing campaign. It says nothing about the creator's ability, which leads into my second objection.

The other reason why I argue this point so passionately is because it seems that more and more people are getting the idea that having some sort of 3l33t editing suite is a prerequisite to being a good AMV editor, and IMO it's statements like yours that perpetuate this falsity.

I agree whole heartedly with trythril. It isn't the equipment (though this can help), but rather the creators willingness to invest the time and effort into crafting a good video. Rush a video, and regardless of your equipment, its quality will suffer. Taking the time needed to plan, execute, evaluate and fix mistakes is the path to real quality.
